A show of two halves tonight. The first half was ok, the second half was outstanding.

Except for Dusk’s accidental Tiger Driver to Ugg, it’s one of the most gruesome things I’ve seen at the wrestling.

It’s funny, you can be such a “smart mark” that you see whatever signs you want in a match… which makes you a plain old dumb mark all over again. I convinced myself Dusk was winning tonight!
I enjoyed Robbie vs Jarvis a lot. Blackwell didn't really show much in terms of personality, even Lochie criticised the crowd, but he sorta just did moves and didn't really try to connect at all. Like if you're going to be cool be cool. Lil marz man, i dont know how aysha kept her cool after that blue thunder. The main was fine, crowd was pretty quiet for dusk, he's a fine wrestler but he's just missing something personality wise. I think he really needs to try a different character. You can see him thinking and he drops it every time there is a sequence.

Everyone worked hard. I actually really enjoyed Gore vs Cava. The 3 way tag was a bit of a mess. Getting the heat on emman whos a heel was a choice. The work in Lochie vs Blackwell at the start was interesting in he kept Lochie in longer holds which is what a heel should do. I think that kind of confused the crowd.

I think that's a reasonable criticism. I liked Lochy vs Solomun cos it was different to everything else on the show, but the crowd was begging to get involved in that match with claps or whatever - there just wasn't a "gap" for it in the first two-thirds of the match.

It's funny I thought the Dusk match suffered from no one bought anything Dusk did as nearfalls. Even the Ganzo bomb. I have no idea why they did that either, seems like a waste in a match the crowd weren't super into.

Shine was too long and too heelish. Didn't show much personality and when the time came for the heat and comeback, it was ehhhh. Just felt like doing moves. Like if you are going to do that there is a way, but it requires a lot more personality and like lochie playing up how smart he is in a sequence etc then getting countered.

I know it sounds like i didn't enjoy it, but i thought the show was perfectly fine and enjoyable.

FWA have announced on their FB that their first Melbourne show is going to be an all-women's show.

That's pretty cool, identify a point of difference coming to a new market for the first time. I have no idea how it'll go, but an all-women's show might give it a better chance than it would've had if it was the same old talent we see in MCW/Renegades/BCW.

In other Oz wrestling news, another major Australian company has "gone intergender" tonight.

:D

I'm a Delta fan, I think she'll get signed by WWE within the next 3-5 years if not earlier but this is just going to make Aussie Wrestling more and more niche and drive casuals away even more than they already have.

Unfortunately like most of Fivey's ideas it won't work and it won't draw. A few promotions have tried all women's wrestling cards, MCW, FWA, Wrestling Go, PWA etc. I don't think many have cracked over 100 attendees except maybe MCW and even then it was in a much smaller venue so might not have cracked 100.

Fivey did this in 2020 and had about 40 attendees in Sydney...the man just does not learn

I don't think it will have much of an impact for RIOT. I've been to where they hold shows and it doesn't exactly hold more than 300 people. Most of their shows are sold shows for festivals and such and they do intergender on them anyways. I just hope they run Delta vs her brother again, the first time was awesome, excellent match. Her brother is an excellent wrestler in ring, just missing that personality to get him to the next level.

I'm going to guess Renegades did around 260ish, which is pretty good given the size of the venue.
PCW was a few tickets shy of a sellout
RIOT had all the seating taken up.

Big weekend all around for AU wrestling.

MCW is 80 short of selling out
PCW looks like it's pretty close to doing a good number as well (very few front row and front seating tickets left)

About 150ish left each night for Anniversary which is insane if you think about it being 3 months away and no matches.

The seat count is around 400 by the way for MCW, which they did over 600 last time, which means they had 200 standing.

What happened to the no ring DMDU show Friday Night?

Haha. So funny. Havent i been predicting this for a while. The most token thing they can do or promised bonza while they used him and connections. Ugg and the filips surely couldn't believe they were ever going to njpw through fale. Next stop, fale is cut and we all pretend tamashii never happened. It's a pity though if they used pwa/riot/row/mcw/wr/epw etc talent in a moderately creative way it could have been something. Not just d team level matches with "bullet club" massive quote unquote there doing the wakanda hand signals. I think the lack of reaction the too sweet got at mcw said it all.

Oh I actually like Bonza as a wrestler a lot. I hope he does well. But come on they tried to scam all the adelaide people with that tryout.

The lack of reaction was down to people not seeing it/not expecting it/not understanding it.

Have to remember that as ingrained as we are in local wrestling, MCW draws 600, no-one else really draws half that with any regularity. That's a lot of people that have no knowledge or familiarity of Ugg or the Classics as part of Rogue Army - it's a lot of people who are "MCW fans" and not necessarily Oz wrestling fans.

No one in japan or in bullet club has heard of rogue army either.

It won't impact them but what about trying to grow past those 300 people or so that do turn up? Why not have a product that is attractive to everyone instead of just catering to the hardcore wrestling fan?

I think it is time to admit that Tamashii was a complete failure, no idea who footed the bill for that but they would've lost a lot of cash, what was expected to be NJPW Australia quickly became PWA featuring a NJPW guy or 2, the last show NJPW didn't even bother to loan anyone out unless you count Kosei Fujita who was already here.

I don't think using the same old talent that is on every international card would've been the way to go to be honest. Australian Wrestling desperately needs a new promotion to rise up and get these opportunities, the Impact Showcase said it all when just four wrestlers in Erika Reid, Luke Watts (Who books most of PWA for Slam), Syd Parker and Xena (Ex PWA) made the card. 18 wrestlers were on that day and just 2 made it on with no current or prior association from EPW/MCW/PWA/WR etc...

For Tamashii to be successful they should've just booked all the guys that have previously worked in Japan (Brooks, Slex, Istria etc), the best Fale Dojo guys, Fale himself, Robbie and then the NJPW guests. Much better than putting the likes of Frankie B on a NJPW show and expecting people to take it seriously.

I'm much the same, I really like Bonza. If he weren't management ensuring whatever opportunities he wants he'd be one of those Istria/Storm type elders that you hope to see working in your local promotion at least once or twice a year, cos he has good matches.

My disappointment with him being in World Tag League is more to do with Fale, and more to do with thinking a "Rogue Army representative" should've been the Natural Classics. They would've fit in fine and been good for a couple of wins in a group that includes the CMLL duo, Archer & Zayne and the Dads. They could've also done some cross group stuff with the NOAH duo and TMDK that would've been interesting, and in the case of TMDK progressed a story if TAMASHII is ever going to do "real" shows again in Australia.

Like Bonza and Fale were ever going to let other people take their spots.

FWA announce today that they will run out of the ballroom at the Taylors Lakes Hotel for their new Melbourne endeavours. Thoughts on this?

Fivey referring to them as "girls" makes me chuckle every time, a girl is a child or adolescent, the word he is looking for is "woman".
