In terms of qualifying for the Olympics, they were 2 steps removed. Would have had to beat South Korea in the quarters and then either winner of Qatar/North Korea which if they lost would have had to have won the 3rd place playoff.

It shows how far the youth are off the pace if they couldnt even get past Jordan and UAE.

The missing players wasn't the problem, it was Vidmar. He was MIA ;)

They keep him in employment to prevent him from getting bored and running into traffic.

The 1 thing I will say in defence is that half our starting 11 missed, still it does show some poor depth.

Who's job would he take currently ??

Ange turned it around too, his name was mud after his job with the juniors.

Ange is a good mention. Vidmar probably has to wait for a job to come free. Maybe could try his luck abroad somewhere in Asia?

Absolutely. Get out of the bubble here where his reputation is in tatters.

Ray Gatt reporting that Josep Gombau has been sounded out for the Olyroos job.

Fantastic appointment, and it shows what Ange has brought to the setup as Gombau mentioned him as a major reason for taking the job.

Can't wait to see him busting out the double kneed slide after we score.

Agree good appointment but didn't he leave Adelaide because his wife was homesick and wanted to be closer to Spain?
Nope. He left because he felt the owners weren't ambitious enough and he was promised things that weren't delivered.

I actually doubt he could've done what Amor did this year. He will be a great get for the National setup though.

Ange seems to be pushing more younger players through the system quicker, anyone who actively follows the youth teams is there anyone in particular to watch?
