It's almost a blessing in disguise with Renshaw getting injured. Finch will be able to open the batting, which is where I reckon the selectors would prefer him to bat, and Khawaja will get a go at the top to avoid the spinning ball as much as possible. Ricky Ponting said that Finch should open recently, and many people on this thread have mentioned that Khawaja should face the new ball.

Finch absolutely should not open, but I suspect the selectors will try for it because they have a track record of being morons.
His recent success at red ball cricket has all come in the middle order. And his single biggest weakness is the good length ball moving away - he will be slaughtered as an opener if there is any kind of swing.
They look at a stat book and rant. Anyone who's seen Finch the last two years could have told you he's been improving his game.Not going to bad as an opener ??
