Came into this year with so much hope and optimism that we were ready to really contend but we are honestly getting worse. The gulf in class between us and the really good teams is vast. We just don't have many smart footballers who know what to do out there.

To have so much more of the ball and almost double forward 50 entries but still get easily beaten is a head scratcher. I know the score says it was close but it never felt like it. Gonna have a really nice pick for Melbourne come trade period.

And I'll add that you can really see the difference playing a smart, classy side that work for each other and do all the little things that equate to winning football. We have none of that.

Cooper Simpson was pretty good. Had some really good kicks out of the defence and his handballs were great. Would’ve preferred him to maybe chase Shultz bit harder after that interception but he’ll get there.

Johnson was absolutely terrible with kicking. Had couple of nice deft touches (one to Brayshaw that resulted in a goal) but overall pretty bad.

Switta wasn’t much better despite kicking one goal which for him should be a routine. Terrible handballs and kicks not any better. That kick just before half time got me kicked out of the house and terrified my dog.

Freddy - just shit. Soft AF

Pearce fought hard. Yeah he made some defensive errors but his heart was on display.

Voss, didn’t do much overall but kicked two nice goals and he brings that enthusiasm that’s priceless.

Amiss - some nice marks on the wing and HF but I don’t see anything better than Logan McDonald tbh. Hope I’m wrong.

Bolton, Clark, Jackson and Brayshaw were great, Serong was ok , could’ve been better overall. Had some great kicks later in the game

Chapman was pretty poor, some terrible clangers

Tracey wasn’t himself after that knock, hope it’s nothing serious.

Darcy, I won’t even comment. Kane Cornes was right, I guess. It hurts saying it. Personally I would cut my losses with him and get rid of him

When compared with last week, yes I am happy with effort because it wasn’t there last week.

Overall though I want more.

Effort is fine if we're 5-3 and haven't been smacked around twice already.

Like honestly this time last week if you asked me we play the shithouse St Kilda and then a undermanned Collingwood at home in the next 7 days 2 x winnable games.

It's turned into a disaster.

Last week's performance makes this week's performance 100x worse.

If we're happy with effort then we have become a bottom 4 side if that's the acceptable level.

Honestly?

I'm angrier at this than I was at last week's effort.

Any side can be beaten on the day, but it takes a special degree of insipidness to respond to a 10 point half time deficit with nothing, save-your-spot-in-the-side, save-the-coach, kick it sideways then long down-the-line football.

I drove 200km to watch this half-hearted garbage live, I have to do the same tomorrow to head home.

Unless there's serious, corrective action, I'll have to think long and hard if I do it again in a fortnight's time.

Pies pounce on turnover.

But they setup their wings at the bounce well backward of centre which I found odd.

They wanted to create space and let their smalls destroy us. It worked.

They had 22 scores from 34 entries! That’s hilarious.

A lot of his attacking kicks ended up being direct turnovers to dangerous spots that Collingwood intercepted and scored from. Has a lot to work on.

Not sure what the issue with our delivery i50 is. Incredible to win i50s by 30 and lose the game. Every kick was kicked to the advantage of the Pies player. If it was a 1v1 it was never kicked to our advantage. They didn't even have to work hard to intercept.

Would love the players to attack the pockets rather than shallow/corridor of the 50. Have someone lead to the pockets and if the ball knocks loose, it’s a stoppage. Not sure why continue to persist with this

A forward no less. He looked like he shat himself as he took the kick. It was the most hesitant crumb I've ever seen - for his second goal of the season no less.

Really liked Coops game. Yes a couple of times on the turnover was a little out of position with defensive body work. His ball use was generally very good and a couple of really nice handballs in transition as he was about to be tackled.

One impressive play was the pick up at full speed going i50 late in the game when 10pts down. Just took a second too long to dispose of the ball and caught HTB but the ground ball pick-up was exceptional.

I counter with Duds pick up off the deck at full speed and lacing out a forward I50.

Well I saw nothing tonight that gave me any confidence in our coach. Switta was terrible all night but he subs Ras into the game in the fourth quarter and leaves Switta on. I love Freddy but he needs to be sent back to Peel and told if he doesn’t learn to make a contest then pack your bags. Is it so hard to tell the forwards to separate and make space instead of all going up for the, surprise surprise, long bomb into the forward 50 together? MJ shows glimpses but gee his disposal is absolutely game killing. I have been a member for 26 years and I do not remember being so disheartened by my team and coach as this season. So much promise for so little return.

At least three times we had the ball on the wing and the next contest down the line was a key forward on Quaynor, and we refused to kick it there. That's what did my head in the most. Especially after Voss had already rag dolled him earlier and kicked a goal.

Amiss just before half time takes a great grab, then up field it was Treacy v 180cm Quaynor, and Bolton the next closest player. Amiss slows it down and goes sideways. It has to be under instruction. There's no other explanation. Just maddening.

Apparently if Freddie didn't kick that last goal it would have been the first time in nearly 100 years where the margin increased by the same amount for each quarter. We won the last quarter by 1 pt and Collingwood won the first 3 quarters by 5 pts.
