I really question people who say the tackle was sloppy. He clearly meant to tackle Carazzo as hard as he possibly could and smash him into the dirt. I'm not saying he tried to break his shoulder, but he made sure he "earned" the free kick.

Giving a free kick away in the opening minutes of the 1st quarter is not going to cause your team to lose, but burying one of the oppositions most important players will. This tactic will be used in Finals this year, but all coaches and players will deny it publicly.
Yeah Lonergan probably did want to make his physicality felt and show Carazzo that he wasn't gonna have an easy day at the office trying to shut down Stants or Jobe, and that our players would look out for them. I have no doubt he intentionally went hard to show some presence, but what i found wrong was carlton supporters claiming it was a reportable offence. It was a free kick, it was paid, unfortnate things happen and we move on.

You guys will be there in September no doubt and have your fair share of big wins, i just don't think you can be a top 4 or premiership team until you're able to play and cope with that contested hard sort of a contest.

In a free flowing game i have no question you could beat anyone in the comp. You have the best runners and offensive weapons across the half back line and midfield, you just need to tidy up the side of your game when you're not allowed to run as freely.

Lol at that fat troll on afl 360. It's funny how he has no problem with lonergan's tackle but I seem to remember he wanted Judd rubbed out before the elim final last year for guess what... A tackle! Lol the irony!

You're not getting the point - wooooooooooooooooooshhhhhh!!!

Its not the boots and haircuts - if you think thats what Im saying then try harder. How can anyone be so simplistic. Seriously.

If you are comparing Jimmy Bartel to Gibbs then **** me - things are worse than I thought - one is hard, the other is butter - outside butter.

Its about egos and attitude mate - and the blues younger brigade of stars as so chock full of it.

I think you're being harsh, in fact I think you're way off the mark...

Gibbs goes into the middle in the last qtr V Essendon and gets hard ball clearances, one after another. He wrestles one out in marking contests and wins 75-80% with no problems. He plays on and beats all the best players in the league, weekly.

When it's his time to go, he does but no one wants to recognize it when it happens. In last years final V Essendon before he got injured he through himself head first at the ball in a pack, but because he waited for a ball to bounce once against the Saints instead of running through a player, he is soft??

It really pisses me off when I read this crap...

You need to wake up and watch more footy, really...

Watched the game again. Even though we were playing terribly, and were carrying some injured players, we could have easily pinched that game in the last. The Don's list is a bit hacky talent wise. Zero stars on that list. But their effort was about 2x ours and that was the difference on the day. This think that mob would worry us at the business end of the season though. If we were switched on they wouldn't get close.

Sure you saw him get injured? Wasn't a pack, no-one within 15m of him. Dove to touch an Essendon shot on goal

Please have another look...

It's got nothing to do with his hardness, he is as hard as he needs to be and will be the next leader of this great club...

Ah apologies, dove to stop a ball crossing our goal line. However it wasn't a dive into a pack.
I'd like to see Gibbs attack the footy or ball carrier more often, I'd say that's where his hardness comes into question

Tweet tweet I tried to keep it as nice as I possibly could

We know now that 4 players were injured, and 3 of them were forced to play out 3/4 of the game. Despite this we still almost rolled them in the last. Maybe not quite the disaster the media and other Carlton haters are making it out to be.

:)
