I hope Hird ripped strips off them.

Give it a miss mate, you flip flop from one extreme to another, like no other poster and it's got to the point that nobody really cares what you think or takes you seriously.

Was it really seven games lost when leading by 30+ points? I can remember...

Anzac Day
Melbourne
Carlton (draw rather than a loss, but still)
North final

Stating the obvious but if the injury is as bad as we fear Myers will be a huge loss. Just another big body, excellent at clearances. Set for a big year.

Who does the injury open the door for more midfield minutes?

gut wretchin, but could be one of those catalyst games some good teams look back at after a successful run.

As a playing group, we are ticking most boxes and need out a couple, but not too many things. We have a host of fringe players who may be able to come in as well - might take weeks to get the right balance. I really loved Gleeson, Daniher and Melk's games.

1. Hird should have gone away from playing numbers behind the ball in the last quarter as soon as the Swans kept playing someone on them. Would have been more useful having players in our forward half .

This is the interesting one. I've always wondered why teams don't do this more - just man up the extra. Perhaps they will now.

In hindsight, I think we did throw too many back, but perhaps we were just out of legs and had little else? It became painfully obvious we had no release from half back.

I think we were just beaten by a better team. Good teams just find a way to win something middle teams (us) struggle to do. We have some excuse but it happened on a few occasions last year too. Disappointing, but ultimately a good effort. Need to turn these 'good efforts' into wins, though, if we are going to finally become a top side.

Hurley didn't beat Franklin. He dismantled him. You really had to be at ground level to appreciate it.
Hurley won some great ball and read the play better than Buddy until it really mattered in 4th quarter. Early in the game Hurley was trying so hard that he had a look of terror on his face every time Buddy charged to ball and Hurley looked as though he was panicking. Hurley will be better for the run.

Even though we have a legitimate excuse this time around we still have to try and get rid of this trend which saw us lose 7 games while we were leading by 30+ points last year.

I'm hoping for Z Merrett more midfield time and Fantasia to come in forward. Melksham to keep improving and it may be the thing which projects us close to top 4.

Joe Daniher was great also. I don't think he lost a contest. Pretty much evened up any 1 on 2 and put some brutal tackles on. Signs are fantastic.
True. That is 2 in a row. They need to finish sides off.

Hope it doesn't Rock their confidence. To put everything into that game after all that has happened and being in what appeared to be an unbeatable position and hand the game to Sydney.

7 goals in one quarter with the rain pissing down is a big effort by Sydney.

Do you think we are good enough to make top 4?

Disappointed that we lost from there but the first 3 quarters were very promising and we'll only improve given our lack of conditioning.
Was impressed with Melk, hope he can keep that up and it was nice to see Buddy being kept quiet for once.

Yeah i think Hocking will be his replacement in the side. Obviously, not the same type of player nor is his role, but you'd want a strong body in there. Then we'll depend on a couple of players rotating through the middle to cover for Myers, like Melksham, a little bit of Ambrose, Chappy and Cooney. But what i'd love to see is Kavanagh, if he's willing to take the chance. He's what a 4th-5th year player? so his body should be able to handle it

3) The campaigning sydney supporters were booing Hird toward the end (I think).

Yeah there was a bit of booing by Swans supporters, it is important to remember though that a) Goodes wasn't getting enough of the ball for them to boo him & b) Goodes eventually got subbed so, Swans supporters being Swans supporters, they needed someone to boo.

Yes we were out of gas, but i think those couple of soft free kicks they got to push the ball forward early in the last put us under all sorts of pressure and then mind games start running through your head. Maybe we thought we had it won too early? because the way we looked at the end of the third wasn't a exhausted team, we were pumped.

I think we let it slip big time, don't get me wrong i was extremely proud of the efforts but we should have won, lets move on and bring on the hawks

Does Hird have something against putting extra players back?

He does not look like a very good in game coach. Great motivator though.
We had an 8 man defence.

So I'm not entitled to be disappointed in dropping a 40 point lead? maybe we should ask the players and see if they are happy.

He's fast approaching all time great status, if he's not there already. Phenomenal player. He plays well even when his team is down, he was decent in the GF too.

Yep and never chucks in the towel either - he knows that when he gets going it will lift his team. True champion.
