The captain. I don't care what anyone says this bloke gives us composure when the ball is hot. Hit some kicks we thought he wouldnt go near.
Yeah agree with that. I wasn’t at all confident about him moving back but I’ve liked more than I’ve disliked about him down there. Cracks in, does JZ things, his defending is improving. His decision making in particular seems improved when he has the game in front of him. He’s still not as reliable a field kick as you’d ideally want but he seems to get more chances to unleash damaging kicks, too.

Thought JZ was very good......that soft/weird effort with mcAdam on the goal line in the last was bizarro world.

If you see this GR, I'd love to see JZ's possessions today.

I'm not sure if I get caught up in the game, but geez it felt like he was turning it over a lot?
5 turnovers including 2FA from 25 disposals so not that bad. I didn’t see the last q but I didn’t get the vibe that he was turning it over a lot.

A few potting Mahony, I'm amazed. Thought he was pretty bloody good yesterday. Put his body on the line a few times and started some good running chains with quick handball. Also, Campbell, yeah he'll be delisted but he had a crack and could easily have had two or three goals if the kick into him were half decent. He was in good position twice only for the ball to be kicked too short for him to use his body. At least he provided a big body which is something we have sorely missed going forward this year.
Needs to nail those shots 30m out. Not alone there though.

Result on Sunday shows why the 'play the kids' philosophy isn't the way forward.

Otherwise your looking at weekly 100+ point beatings and very little if anything constructive to come out of it.

We’re 4 weeks into a delayed rebuild, be patient, strap yourself in for a wild ride.

Have been ninth melbourne for past 15 years and just imagine that this comes off,

Premiership number 5.

Jack's ball use was diabolical outside 2 kicks that a good kick hits every time.

Multiple turnovers under no pressure.

He's horrible with the footy.

Hey giantroo I've just signed back up to your Patreon. Any chance you could post these there as well? I don’t have FB and the videos don’t seem to want to play for me here.
Yeah, I will.

I didn't think you ever left Rob. Just checking and you've been a member since August 2018.

Perez has played 3 games.

Team still has senior players in it and they are always gonna be needed to show the way.
Conveniently avoiding the point about the 8 first 22 players listed in front of perez. There is no play the kids mantra. We have no other choice

Why can’t they bounce the ball though?

It's their thing.

I reckon if you surveyed the football going public and asked if bounces were reduced to one per quarter to kick things off would anyone care? The answer would in all likelihood be no.

Instead we're subjected to Ray f***ing Chamberlain doing a little dance before attempting to bounce, then bounce the ball and it skewing one way or the other.

It's nothing but ego. That's it. It's all it is umpiring ego.

if the concern is good bouncers don't always equal good umpires, have a specialised ball bouncer who runs off the field after every centre bounce. there's already like 8 umpires in the team, what's one more

I have for a long time thought that the AFL can absolutely have a minimum threshold for Bounce accuracy.

Every single bounce is filmed. each could be measured for angle. have a threshold created and those that cannot meet it simply cannot bounce the ball. It would do away with Ray Chamberlain doing his little dance prior to each bounce and he could just cut to throwing the ball up in the air.

I am not saying do away with it completely. I am saying move away from, its tradition so let hacks who can't do it try. To a metric based, if you can you can, if you can't you can't.

Everything else is scrutinised in the game why not this?

Do you read the forum?

I know the 'kids' are getting a game but when people are still stating 'play the kids' despite the amount of 1st, 2nd & 3rd year players in the current side.....it tells me that people want kids across the entire board of the playing 22.

I'm saying that having a balance of senior and younger players gets you the result we got over the weekend. As oppose to just having a 22 with 'kids' which would most likely result in 100+ beatings every week.

Imagine having to run half a marathon with dozens of different rule interpretations running through your head, yet still be expected to perform a party trick for no reason whatsoever. Just throw it up.
Or make them full time professionals so they have more time to practise their physical skills as well as their understanding and adjudication of the rules... Might start getting some standards and create a bit more interest in being an umpire if they did that.
