Autopsy Autopsy vs Freo - ****

There are times when leading towards goal is a good idea - certain bloke wearing number 18 for our club was pretty good at it. But Larkey certainly over does it, and isn't particularly suited to it with his marking style, as he doesn't protect the drop zone well enough but his marking style would actually be suited to leading towards the ball carrier, but for some reason he is allergic to it
In a balanced side you are completely correct.

We have nothing remotely resembling balanced.

We have stagnant and a bunch of blokes who consistently cheat.

It’s not just forwards who don’t lead.

The entire team at times is flat footed and this is done through fear. If they lead they may end up with the ball and it has been likely that the ball will not be clean when it gets to them. This means they will likely fumble and be under pressure.

Back to our forwards, our mid forward connection is abhorrent. We play forwards who can’t contested mark and kick it like we have prime Carey and Snake Baker down there.

So you’re right there is times where leading towards goal is the dangerous space. However I would wager a significant amount we’d look a lot better and the mid forward connection would be significantly better if we lead at the ball carrier and the ball carrier lowered their eyes.

If we tweaked this element of our game alone I believe we’d be a 3-4 goal better side.

It was a great road trip for myself and the family.

Picked up an RV in Perth, drove to Bunbury with the family and stayed at the Bunbury Glade caravan park for 2-nights only 15-minutes walk from the ground. Lots of North supporters also staying in the caravan park, with many wise conversation had after the win by some slightly drunk supporters.

Spent the 2-days in Bunbury, then drove to Augusta via Busselton, Witchcliffe Pies, Margaret river and Leeuwin Estate wines. Stopped at a butcher in Augusta, picked up some Italian pork snags, Margaret river cheese and spent 2-days in a caravan park on the river in Augusta. Drove across to Pemberton and stayed in the caravan park for a night, finishing off the cheese, wine and snags.

Drove back to Perth, dropped the van off, and booked into 3-nights in the Esplanade in Freo.

We went to a great restaurants in Fremantle, Tonic and Ginger, and another night at Sandrino.

PRO's.
Great trip, we should have won the game versus Freo (probably lost versus the Eagles).

CON's
If we are being charged $450 for the WA game membership, the club should have arranged designated North member areas; RE grandstand seating in Bunbury that was first come first serve basis. If we go again, I'll not buy the $450 membership, and just try and buy tickets when they are released, and buy the best available for OPTUS.
The bank balance, between the flights, the RV hire, hotel, food, drink, memberships etc, we burned through a lazy $8,000 in the 8-days we where over.
The ‘WA membership’ is a complete rip off, especially due to how much our Melb based membership's cost. They should have just offered nmfc member upgrades at a reasonable cost - pricing our own members out of our own home game is total BS.

You should have been a travel writer 😀, what % of your costs were the flights? And was that 2 adults and 2 kids?

Apparently the 3 GA membership gave you entry to both games, could be the way to go ?

Sounds like a great trip though

According to the club the only way to guarantee tickets was with the expensive WA membership - hard to book flights without the assurance you’ll get into the game.
Well someone on this board did it, I thought it was a bit rich but most felt it was fair enough, oh well

Jetstar was $2400 for 4 of us.

We flew over on a 6am flight the day before the Bunbury game, arrived in Perth at 09:10 & picked up the RV.

We left at 09:40 the day after the West Coast game.
