I think you're severely overestimating his neural capacity and his ability for reflectionI'm not sure about whether he will get abuse to the same level or if he will react a certain way but one thing is for sure: when he plays us, even if no-one reminds him, he will always question whether he made the right decision or - if the decision was already made by "others" in his circle - whether he could have stood firm and stayed with us.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that every time he steps onto a footy field, this abandonment of us lurks somewhere in the back of his mind. Just waiting to add to the "I'm not as good as I thought I might be" type of thoughts.
So we might still be a bit angry, but he's the one who has to carry this. That's worse, I think.
