l dont know but if he does then he should be a straight in selection. If not then l wouldnt be opposed to WillPhil getting a game, if as many here are saying, might be the last time we see him in Roos colours...l cant see us winning anyway..Has he passed his concussion protocol by next weekend?
Hope we don't get too rigid. It is good to have a few guys running through there to mix it up (something the Tiges should have done in all honesty - we get concerned about our defensive running but the Hopper, Taranto, Prestia set-up is glacial).
However, it definitely appeared to be clicking like no other point in the season. George's game has gone under the radar - restrained attack on the ball coupled with classy disposal. Now to do it against a good team.
Did Powell play any midfield today? Best midfield performance for this season. Looks like high half forward might be Tommy’s go from now on.
Jy was very good on the wing yesterday

.......And Fages, and almost dribbling.Needs more Brisbane and big X

Only last week we had plenty of posters saying that he isn't effective and wondering if we've put all eggs in his basketX with 17 tackles. Only Ziebs has had more in a game
Would be good if they do. Then lose top spot on the ladderThey'll rest and manage a few next week
Their fans felt fortunate we didn't beat them though. Huge missed opportunityWe did draw with the Lions.
The lowest they can drop is to second, so still 2 home finalsWould be good if they do. Then lose top spot on the ladder
So much this. It’s a team sport, and this board has become so toxic (cos our team has been so bad, admittedly) that otherwise intelligent people forget these things. It’s a thankless role. The effort and willpower required for all that sprinting, to be there for the escape kick out of defense, to run back up forward for the long kick, to participate in link plays, etc it’s why athleticism is prioritised over skill in that role. They’re never going to be “silky” and will always make a mistake or two.
As a side note, I often smh when I read people wanting to cut Scott or Stephens and replace them with more skillful players. Often with someone who will never have the heart to cover that distance. It just shows a misunderstanding of the role and system needed.
If you can find a player who can combo both (rare) watch out. Langdon, J Daicos, Amon, etc go alright.
what odds would you have got when Bull went off that we'd kick 130 plus with no Larkey just Curtis & Darling plus a couple of tradies and a new born giraffe in Whitlock
Yep was going to mention this.
To be controversial - does not having Bull and Larkey give us a more unpredictable, flexible, mobile and potentially more potent forward line?
Hawthorn have proved to be quite effective with a smaller more agile forward setup, yet we seem to have been continually pushing towards the 3 tall targets with very limited success.
With our history of pretty average inside 50 entries, does the chaos theory work better without a designated key target?
Or did the absence of both Bull and Larkey just allow the more experienced Darling to control and coordinate the forward structures better?
Was it simply that Curtis needs to ply his (brilliant) trade in more space, without the dominant Zuurhar controlling the narrative?
Or did the lack of pressure from Richmond's midfield simply mean that the ball was coming in under less pressure.
I don't know the answer, maybe a combination of all, but it was certainly a very different and potentially more damaging look yesterday.
True. But still I suppose there would be some desire to finish topThe lowest they can drop is to second, so still 2 home finals
I think the kid is going to be a player, but not as a key forward. But, he really should have worn the long sleeves with those arms.what odds would you have got when Bull went off that we'd kick 130 plus with no Larkey just Curtis & Darling plus a couple of tradies and a new born giraffe in Whitlock
The male version of Caroline Wilson.Who?
We've a way to go, but premiership teams can carry foot soldiers, but not players that are almost frightened of physical contact. Brereton mentioned it a few times, and trying to find a way to be diplomatic about it, but he was basically saying that he hangs out, and he does. It's the uneducated way to put it, but you do have to take one for the betterment of the team occasionally, and I'm not sure that he's prepared to. He seems to be more worried about getting hurt. For all his flaws there were multiple times he pushed all the way back into their goal square. Altho he gave away one goal very early because he didn't compete hard enough (gave away a soft free in front of goal) other times he was able to support the backline enough that we won the ball back and on a few occasions went coast to coast to kick a goal.
reckon...bit like me wearing a tight singlet to show off my AB'sI think the kid is going to be a player, but not as a key forward. But, he really should have worn the long sleeves with those arms.
