To be honest I think it's just little moments that always add up into something more. Last night, it was Jy's missed tackles. It was the inability to at least keep the ball locked in when the opposition won it in the middle. The amount of pinpoint handballs/throws the Braves nailed to get themselves out of congestion to spark a forward foray was ****ing infuriating. It was the inability of most players to identify that someone should be trying to crumb the contest (and that one's been ongoing). The defence held up by and large. Worst 4 goal game you'll ever see from Darcy.

It feels like we mentally lapse for chunks of games. Moments where players don't go as hard as they could've, and suddenly the margin's four goals and we feel like we're trying to resist a tidal wave. ****n Collingwood don't switch off the way we do, and I'm not sure they ever have.

If we switch on for a full game, I think we can do quite well with a game-style that's distinct from the turnover-dependent trends of this era and less chaotic, but we never, ever ****ing do. Ever.

It is the sort of thing that makes you question whether we get out of this. Dunno bout everyone else but the lid of creeping, pervasive shitness is firmly on, even if we're currently on track to beat 2021's results. I believe we have the physical capability already, but the mental capability side has some serious question marks

Fully agree that the fundamental decision making of most of these blokes, combined with skill execution under no pressure, is horrific.

Boys played a great game for 2.5 quarters guys and can see the improvement and experience will help going foward
wouldn't be too disappointed with last night's game against what will be a top 4 side with plenty of weapons
LDU getting injured early and Xerri later helped blow the margin out. But a good performance

So good! Did anyone get one of the elephant caps? By the time I got to the roo shop they were sold out - apparently demand was huge. Was told they might do another run of them but turnaround time is 3 months. Also thought the crowd was ok all things considered - school/work the next day, middle of winter, flogging the week before, half of Melbs train lines replaced by buses and the usual Melb winter exodus to Bali.

l'm so glad we had the AFL game tonight to ourselves. Everyone watching the match got to see how corrupt and inept the umpires are. If ever there was a case to get rid of "the deliberate out of bounds rule" it was shown tonight. Time to bring in "the last touch rule" so the umpires cannot influence the game as much as they are doing now...

There was nothing wrong with the ‘deliberate out of bounds rule”. Moronic AFL thought that was to easy to adjudicate so changed it to the completely ambiguous “insufficient intent” which isn’t even how they umpire it at all. Ineptitude of the highest order.

With three games played, we are the best performing loosing side. Most points scored, smallest margin. Best reaction from the press. That ain't nothing. Smart coaches will not be thinking of nmfc as a push over next year.
