I wonder why you criticise a White Privileged Male more than any other player but if Jy makes a mistake we hear crickets. One Mystery Robert Stack would solve in 69 seconds. :stern look
There have been times I've criticised Jy Simpkin for not chasing (altho the last time I did that was years ago), not going to his team mates aid and not kicking properly but I'll do it alot less cos he busts his arse all game, makes blocks, shepherds, attacks the ball unconditionally and chases till he is ****ed.

And the pile on him is already over the top with people saying we should trade him or that he isn't even a best 22 player. One of your Robert Stack mysteries right there.

Plenty of White Privilaged Males in our side I don't criticise but regularly defend from over the top criticism. You're trying to invent something that's not there so you can cover for a player not working hard enough. That's the sort of thing a political scientist would do. You thinking of going into politics Zondor?

Glass half empty: first three quarters were nearly as bad as I've seen (tho WC was good). A competent opponent would have been 8 goals up at 3qt.
Glass half full: a lot of recent north teams would have subsided and lost in spite of WC goal allergy

I know we were the exact opposite of good at comebacks during the Scott years, but I didn't think I'd have to go as far back as Round 5, 2008 to find the last time this happened. (There were a couple of not-quite cases in between then and now, though - coming back from 15 or 16 down in the last.)

21 points down at the 11-minute mark of the final quarter, won by 7 in the end. Features that charmed sideways centre bounce that led to a crucial Ed Lower goal late. Should play from the point we were 21 down if anyone fancies revisiting:

A lot if villain's in that match; Rhys Shaw, Sam Power, J*ffa and the timekeeper!

I didn't realise Tim Kelly was still on their list until he got a touch in the last

Four touches in the first half. What a fall from grace. The defensive job Wardlaw and the wider midfield did on him was excellent.

We've been on the other side many times. For all their territory dominance, West Coast left the door wide open and we ran over them in the last. Feels weird, but some important experience to regroup and kill a game like that I guess.

You're tripping.
Yesterday we had 8 players under 23 in the 23 and all of them, even the sub, contributed to the win. Years ago, when you reckon we should have outgrown this, they were still in high school. In the last quarter a whole bunch of them tried to put the side on their back and we won because of it.

If that doesn't give you hope for the future nothing will.
I'm not tripping, Ferbs. Anyone else with the array of football talent we have would absolutely pants that West Coast side. We had to come back and take advantage of their butchered opportunities to do so. There's a reason the atmosphere in here wasn't joyful the way it was after the Melbourne loss, and that's because that result yesterday illuminated our fragility more than our strengths.

Are you going to tell me you think, off the back of yesterday, that steady linear growth will occur in this group until we're at the contending stage? We've been hearing 'hope for the future' bullshit since 2021. Yes, there are significant reasons for that, but at some point you stop biting on the bait, especially when the game played out like.... whatever that was.

Bank the win, of course, but concerns were not allayed in the slightest by proceedings yesterday

A lot of JHF about Harley Reid when things don’t go their way. You can see Reid’s mental state deteriorate in the last 5 minutes so clearly when he was just itching to get into the biff with Sheezel after the game was won. Anyone at the game know where he was when Sheez won the game winning clearance? No where near the ball

He plays like someone that knows he's going to get the $$ and get back to Victoria

Probably. I wonder if the ability to control his mental facilities will improve when he isn’t being beaten all the time? Seems like he enjoys the aggro a lot.

If he gets to a club where the players pull him into line, he'll reach his potential.

Doubt that will happen at WC.

Yesterday’s game was the first time since Round 5 2008 against Collingwood that North won a game after being 3 goals or more down during the last quarter. Josh Fraser put Collingwood 21 points in front 11 minutes into the last quarter, we ran over the top of them. Perhaps better remembered for one of our goals coming from a wayward centre bounce that triggered the bounce recall rule.

Near miss: Round 3 2014 vs Port (we were 16 points down early in the last).
