We've now won five of our last seven against West Coast and three of our last four against Richmond.

Nobody is particularly excited about being 16th but at least we can say we're not the worst side in it any more.

Our next eight games include match-ups against the sides currently 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th. Results against those sides will be a real test of our progress, and winning two or three of those would be huge for us.
In all the doom and gloom, I feel it's worth mentioning that we have 10 points from our last four matches, which is better than pretty much anyone but absolute optimists would have predicted. It hasn't all been pretty, but we got the wins we really needed to, drew with the defending premier, and the first half against Collingwood was some of the best footy we've played in a long time. The two games prior to that we lost narrowly.

I think we will take a scalp or two over the rest of the season, and finish with between 5 and 8 wins for the season, plus the draw. Not top 4 contenders yet, but a step forward.

we've only won 3 for the year. We are no chance to win 5 more from here. I reckon we might win a couple more.

100% stability is important.
Don’t discount any of that.

This group is just playing with fire with its form and overall performance.

There is no doubt there has been small wins so far.
Our percentage for one is an indicator of that.
The draw against Brisbane and taking it to the Pies for a half is something to hold onto.

But **** me, we’re also 3 kicks away from having 1 win for the season and being on a 10 week loss streak again. We’re sitting on a knife’s edge re results.

Thankfully we’ve got 14 points banked away and taken care of business when expected to.

The next 4 weeks will give us a fair idea of where we’re at.
Freo and Carlton have been inconsistent so far but considering how we took it up to Brisbane and Collingwood, we should give both these sides a crack.
Hawks and Dogs to follow is even tougher.

Our percentage is 80.
In a months time if it remains above 80, then that speaks volumes that we’re on the right track.
The % argument is flawed. It really should be in the 60’s.

Spend ten minutes watching this.

If you have no idea how stoppage set up works, then watch this.

What Clarkson is doing here is nothing new that any other coach isnt doing. Its generally the basic way to get out of a stoppage and surge the ball forward by creating the out number.

The issue early is our skill level blows, basic handballs and handballing to the first option who is immediately under pressure. You need to assess the situation, it’s quick but occasionally the second or third option with a handball breaks the game open even more.

We all love cunners, but he did this basically instinctually. Would see the first option was under pressure, would skip him and fire a 20m bullet handball outside to the 2nd or even 3rd option and bang, off to the races. That handball is what our players dont do. Perhaps its not coached? BUT! I did see Parker do this in the last quarter tight out of a stoppage CHB. Skipped the first option and I said out loud “about ****ing time”

^^^^ That is how you break the line and not be so predictable. With great hands.

Further, this isn’t the biggest issue and this is one minute component in a non existent game plan which I identified it being scrapped about 6 or 7 weeks ago. About the same time the scoreboard started to change. What we are doing isnt sustainable and the cue is in the rack.

Disagree. It’s relevant when looking at a larger sample size and comparing form from year to year.

Simply put, the higher your percentage the more credibility you have.

But it isn't.

Cue our last premiership coach and his line about his auntie.

You expect the score wet toast produced to happen every year? When other time has collingwood kicked 3.8 in a quarter this year? We have played teams at half strength. It’s flattering. But you can hang your hat on that.

Perhaps you should or someone should compare inside 50’s against from 24 to 25. Marks inside D50 from 24 to 25

Yep. And Melbourne had more I50s than us too. But you're cherry picking opposition inaccuracy to suit a rather flimsy argument. You're not wrong, but it didn't happen the way you propose (want?), so who cares?

Why not give us the wins against the Dogs and Brisbane? Inaccuracy hurt us when we were going OK in those games and we lost one by a couple of goals and drew the other? But it didn't happen that way, so who cares?

North have been within 2 goals of the opposition in the last quarter all but 4 games this year. What if we won all of those? Wow - we'd be 8-4 with a poor percentage but entrenched in the 8 and probably headed for finals. Even some of those would have us in a handy spot. But we're not so who cares?

Or, we've trailed in the last quarter of every game bar one. What if we lost all of those? We'd be 1-11 with a reasonable percentage but stone motherless last and it'd be pitchforks all round. But we're not so who cares?

See - anyone can do it.

But we lost 2 by a combined total of 18 goals.

Im cherry picking just as much as you are. You can believe North are on the right track. Whether you’re right or wrong, we’ll know in the next 5 weeks.

Yeah give us the 98 flag under your flawed argument

Pick 1 is the most overrated thing in footy imo. There was a good run between 2000-2006 where everyone played at least 250 games and had careers ranging from good to great.
But before and after that, there have more underwhelming careers than not. Some of the busts have excuses around injury or mental health, but it seems that it adds an extra layer of expectation most of the lads can't handle.

Harley plays like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and has to be the man every week. He'll get to 200 games on natural ability, but I doubt he fulfills his potential. Being pick 1 is a curse not all can handle.
With Reid it's not so much the pick 1 which is the issue. He was viewed as clearly the best player in the draft - which may well have been true. But it's his personality that I don't think is a good fit for the club

The thing is, I can see him fitting in well in.... ahem... high flying eagles teams of bygone eras. But this team, mired in shitness with a garbage list, is not his bag. He's got the two layers to deal with; the distance from home and the shitness of the team. And he's seemingly not doing brilliantly with either, though I've gotta say, I hope he appreciates the space in WA. Melbourne's gonna feel permanently bottlenecked if he ever moves there

The best move for him would be GWS

Umm....that was exactly my point.....

He'll be fine on his farm down Geelong way.

Stories out of Bunbury on Sunday suggest North won the game.

We haven't exactly made a habit of that recently. Yet the carry on.

We had a team employ a defensive extavaganza on us which they hoped would get them a win like it did against St.Kilda a few weeks back. We kept chipping away and we found a way through, eventually. Yet the carry on.

Regardless of the opposition, a win is worth celebrating. Yet the carry on.

Our 'supporters' are terrible. Just terrible.
