LOL imagine being quenched by that win? Imagine being content with that effort.

Gee whiz the last 6 years have changed people. How anyone is gratified by that is beyond me.
No one said they were “quenched” or content, you’re literally inventing things in your head just so you have something to whinge about.

Your constant negativity is honestly pathetic.

We’re just celebrating a win. Sorry if that triggers you.

Today's game displayed absolutely zero evidence of structure, system, teamwork, footy nous, common sense, due diligence, willingness to adapt, learning from previous mistakes, maturation, professionalism, progression,, skill utilisation, tactical implementation, team balance, leadership, defensive strategy, second efforts, sticking tackles, negating opposition momentum, F50 entries of substance, playing to strengths, gut running, performing under pressure, executing basic skills, playing the percentages. Need to show more than this or elite talent means zilch
Yeah but apart from that it was good

Yes that was a dreadful game of football to watch. I missed the first quarter and by halfway through the third quarter I was resigned to the every increasing likelihood that for the first time ever, I might not see us live kick a goal. Thankfully a few players got going in the second half of the last quarter and turned things around.

Parker was huge with 10 disposals in that last quarter and without him we would not have won the game.

However, when you reflect back to our performances against *, Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Collingwood for three quarters, with an ounce or two of luck, we might have won a couple of those. In contrast, it was a desperate struggle to beat Richmond.

Which suggests to me that presently there is a fair bit of our performances being impacted by what's going on in the collective heads of the players. We have so many high draft picks and we should be playing better football than we are against the lower on the ladder teams. From a rebuild point of view, we should be well ahead of both the Tigers and the Eagles and that might just be putting too much mental pressure on a few of our players.

With the start we had, we should have gone right on with it and recorded a nice win, but we didn't.

Pleasingly though, two of our best, especially after half time, were McKercher and O'Sullivan. That can (hopefully) only augur well for better times ahead.

Of course, if we succumb meekly to Fremantle next week, my theory will be blown right out of the water. Oh well.
It's so clearly all mental. The reason we can beat Richmond and WC despite world class pressure is primarily down to our talent. The hierarchy there is under no doubt; we're in the next echelon.

It's what is so frustrating. You watch little periods and wonder why they aren't more common, and why our floor is still where it is. And it's because of all the little conscious decisions our players make that hamper us for ten minutes, fifteen minutes, a quarter.

There's some gross happy clapping going on here; nothing about that performance intrinsically suggests hope for the future. I wasn't initially going to try and pull it apart but some of the vitriol from 'more positive' posters is ridiculous. The reason some people aren't happy, campaigners, is because we should've outgrown that sort of performance years ago. And yet it seems we've just played our worst patch against one of the worst teams in history at this stage of our rebuild.

Being out of the bottom two at this stage of the season is a big tick for me. It might be a springboard of sorts by virtue of its novelty. But God help me if these campaigners aren't making the experience of watching them as unappealing as pulling ingrown toenails. We have to grin and bear the glacial progress, but we don't have to like it when a 1993-esque year feels three billion miles away and shouldn't

Its sad how we have to cherish and celebrate this poor mans win. Our bar is very low.

Whats sadder is that players we thought were going to be stars probably dont have it. They dont have the hunger or the ability to show up every week for 4 quarters.

Long way to go and forget that bullshit flick the switch, change comes quickly 🤮

The footy/win aside one thing I would say is even if it seems a long distance consider coming over for this week next year. A great feeling in town last night and a packed house at a ripping suburban venue today - where we had truckloads of support. The Bellerive games seriously don't have a patch on today from an atmosphere viewpoint.

I'm in Dunsborough now which is an hour away and I walked into the brew pub to cheers from two different tables of NM fans :thumbsu: This deal will be a good thing for our club.
Oppty to turn it into a north festival if the team could just turn up to play. Looked great on telly I’ll try to get the fam up there next year for sure.

Silver lining with yesterdays win is that we are two more wins away from 5.5 wins for 2025 which the betting world has us at.

Snag another win and end with 6.5 wins and you could call it a successful season to some degree.
Forget playing;

Depleted swines team where 12 of their best 22 out getting absolutely smashed

Being belted by a depleted Carltank side on GFri and being absolutely smashed

Coming up against a depleted collingwood team with 10 of their best out and being absolutely torched

Playing a dogs side with 10 of them out and couldn’t get over the line.

10 goal loss to GC, 9 goal loss to AC.

We lost to * who are ****ing trash.

Whether you suggest 5.5 wins is par. Our claim this season is drawing with brisbane and belting melbourne?

No improvement and the team has gone backwards. We couldn’t have had a better draw against better teams missing personnel and we have been belted.

There is absolutely nothing to take out of 2025 other than we are still shit, a disorganised club, unserious, lead by inept and incompetence people from the top down.

Yesterday was Bradys team vs Bradys team… if that is a body of work for a list manager, the bloke shouldn’t be allowed within 100 metres of a football club again.

We didn’t win it, West Coast lost it and we shouldn’t be celebrating that.

Abysmal display of football on every level.

Skill, intensity, defence, offence, turnovers, fumbling.

Just embarrassing.
bit of both in reflection,

With a nights sleep to ponder we actually did win it when some of our players stepped up in the last 10 minutes, Zuurhars pack mark then conversion for example was pretty decent stuff, But agree we never should have been in the game and when they got back to a game high 16 points in the last i thought the ship had sailed.

Sure it is nicer waking up a winner for a change but the road that led us there was very ugly and probably puts up more doubt than confidence going forward.

We have shown we can bring the intensity so why does it take so long for the penny to drop?? that stuff is between the ears, sadly though the skill and execution is poor and we will continue to get punished by teams outside our bottom 3 group. we also haven't been able to recruit well enough in the past fer years and our depth is none existent, at least a few more years of bumpy road before we will contend and thats even going to be more difficult when we trade out picks for washed up players.

I’ve watched the last 15 minutes a few times now. We were excellent. We have the talent. We just need to believe and back ourselves.
In my uninformed opinion 90+% of our issue reside above the shoulders.

The last 10% is mid forward connection.

I would love to know the stats for how often we turn the ball over between 30 and 70 meters from goal.

We’d be world champions at it.

The major positive is that the boys really wanted it in the last quarter. There was genuine effort and urgency.

The major negative is it took till the last 15 mins.

Hopefully a turning point.

Oh and the umpiring was genuinely garbage. Worst of our games for the year in my opinion.
It was so bad. Early in the game when they hadn't kicked a goal they started picking out every single possible free kick for them, meanwhile Darling gets hit in the head 10m from goal and it is just play on. There were multiple times where they ignored obvious frees to us whilst going out of their way to find tiggy touch ones for WC. They can get stuffed.

Clarko 'encouraged' LDU at 3/4 time, going by the way he started the 4th qtr like a scalded cat?
It's infuriating - because that level from LDU is actually quite reasonably what should be expected all game. We are not talking walking into cement trucks level of effort, he just conceded the loss in contest too often and too easily. He has to find a way to be angry about losing every contest / quarter / game or he will forever be not quite what his potential suggests.

Sadly, that was less than one quarter. Winning is good, especially as it keeps Eagles fans in WA quiet (mind you I got bombarded with messages from one irate with umps and said the last QTR 50 turned game), but we need to start seeing genuine improvement as a team. Its year six.
Season 2 Wtf GIF by Parks and Recreation

How do you survive over there? Imagine following West Coast and thinking they in any possible universe got the short end of the stick today.

Stephens probably going a little underappreciated for his game today

Covered the most ground from both teams by nearly a kilometre (15.2km) including the most at high speed (2.6km), and averaged 9.6km/h (most on the ground as well). Was also second on the ground for both work rate in attack and defense. Doing what a good wingman should do despite probably not having the most outstanding game statistically.
He put in no doubt, thought he was off with his disposal compared to the last couple of months. Not poor per se, just not as damaging as he has been. Still more careful with ball in hand than 90% of his team mates. Agree it's a good game, you have to be able to contribute with solid football even when you're not hitting every kick perfectly and that's exactly what he did.
