AVI to DVD?

I downloaded a torrent which is in an avi format. Am I able to put this file on DVD to be able to watch it on TV or do I have to convert it?

You'll probably have to convert it, I use WinAvi Video Converter which is very easy to use and does a whole heap of different conversions like avi to dvd, avi to mpeg, avi to wmv, mpeg to dvd, mpeg to avi etc etc

nero vision express 3 if you usually use nero.

You dont need to convert it if it's avi.
Just burn it with NeroVision or another Dvd video making burner

The files only add up to 3.75GB but when I put them into nero they are 12GB? how does that work?

Some times a burner saves your previous burnt movies. I think you need to remove them in order for it to get that amount.

Different encoding, as avi's they are compressed and the quality is reduced a little, in dvd format they take up a lot more space. For instance if you download a movie as an avi it will probably be ~700MB but when converted to dvd format it will be ~4GB.

i got prison break on dvd with avi files, works on a $40 DVD player from Aldi but not on an expensive panasonic player
