They'd need to win five in a row to break it....I don't want to see them equal it.

We can't just roll over and let them walk in like millionaires. I agree. We should be treating this like our grand final. They'd need to win five in a row to break it....I don't want to see them equal it.
Being given an armchair ride by the umpires to me is cheating in my eyes. It's so blatantly obvious. Why can't they be treated like every other side.I get it PNS. I cant stand the Hawthorn supporters where I sit (MCC members); and I cant stand the sniping style of play and the umpiring ride given to some of their players. But as a club they haven't cheated, and haven't been given handouts by the AFL. I admire them for doing it all themselves.
Just because stats weren't taken regularly in those days and we can't sit down and watch a DVD of the match it should't make it less important than a flag won in the modern era.Got any stats who was best on in the 1927 Gf? No one could tell you.

Who was it?I asked a former Collingwood player a question about who was his flag favourite. Just so happened that the 4-peat was raised, he categorically said under no circumstance did he want to see Hawthorn break it.
If it was Collingwood going for a 4th flag this year the media would make sure we lose by digging up some dirt on us. It will never happen.I can't for the life of me understand why trying to make it harder for hawthorn to win four premierships in a row isn't an admirable objective.
Andrew Tranquilli.Who was it?
Gonna go out on a limb here and say I'm in the minority when I say good on Hawthorn if they 4peat. I don't care about the record.
Agreed. We can't let them have a free ride in. We must try and beat themWhy even play sport? Winning and establishing records is what sport is all about. To just have some new age 21st centrist view that records don't mean anything now actually undermines the efforts of past players/coaches etc. they fought hard to achieve that record, generations later different Collingwood people fought hard in their honour to protect the record from Melbourne. Now we don't care?
That bothers me.

A lot of what you say is right. To be honest, you have to admire the way they have been a powerhouse since the 1980's, we could only dream of being that successful. Both on and off the field they run a professional outfit. The irony with Collingwood, for a club that doesn't have a number 1 ticket holder and everyone is meant to be equal, we seem to have a lot of personalities that stand out from everyone else. I reckon that has always been our biggest downfall. Too many ego's.
Having said that, I reckon if Hawthorn finish outside the top 4, they'll still win it easily. Remember everyone gets a rest the week before the finals and they only have to win 3 more games after that for another flag. The reality is, finals are a different ball game and they have the experience to deliver. Who's going to challenge a proven side? Once you get to the big dance, one quarter of football can make or break you. They know how to win the Grand Final. Hate to say it, but they'll do it again.
I'm greedy.It's a must twin v Hawthorn.
If Collingwood win Hawthorn drop out of the top 4 and they face an uphill battle to win the flag.
Collingwood need to protect the clubs legacy and the four consecutive premiership record. Everyone needs to be up for this game.
If Hawthorn equal the four consecutive premiership record their four will be considered the more impressive in the now 18 team competition. Having pride in my club. I don't want that.
I don't even want them in the prelim.I'm greedy.
I don't want them even making the GF.
I just want to enjoy watching the GF with no hawthorn to worry about.
If they get to the big dance, I'll feel sick all day (only cure that day is them losing).
If hawthorn gets to the GF I'm going to the races at Caulfield. Never gone previously on GF day, but just couldn't take hawthorn again.

If you are right, bless youI don't even want them in the prelim.
I'm confident that if they finish outside the top 4 they won't go past week two.

Yes hopefully we win, but even if we are close at 3q time and stay close to near the end, and play bloody hard a la maynard, we'll be wearing them down for their first final which will make a big difference. As opposed to giving them a leisurely practice match where they can queue tha rack at 3q time which would actually help their campaign. If they win by more than 30 points and go on to win it I'll definitley consider that Collingwood will have helped their campaign in this game (which I suppose means they would deserve to lose the record).Agreed. We can't let them have a free ride in. We must try and beat them
