I'm after a website that will email me or alert me somehow when a band is touring. I don't want to have to actively search...

What are my options?

Ticketing outlets like Moshtix, Venuetix and Ticketek have weekly/fortnightly newsletters that you can sign up for, which inform you of upcoming tours and gigs, and also sometimes have special deals, offers and competitions just for subscribers of the newsletter.

I use triple J's gig guide, which you can create your own list of bands and get a weekly email with which ones are touring when. Depends which types of bands you are after though, I don't think they have all bands in the list, but anyway, can be found here: http://triplej.yourevents.com.au/guide/

An alternative is: http://www.yourgigs.com.au/personal_guide/ however I don't know if they send emails or not.

Just finished watching the 1986 playoffs game between the Bulls and the Celtics (Jordan's 63 game) and was wondering why Jordan didn't shoot three free throws when he was fouled by Mchale on his last shot of regulation?

Was his foot on the line?

It used to be that you only got 2 free throws on a shooting foul regardless of where you were shooting from.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that '86 was before the rule was changed, which would explain it.

Can someone aware me on the fifa/sep blatter corruption thing?

I hear people talking about how corrupt they are but I really don't understand what they've done/why it's even possible in a professional organization etc.

Why is he still in charge etc?

I'm going overseas in December.

Is the Aussie dollar likely to restore itself or should I exchange some money ASAP?
I understand it's not only the AUD suffering.

I'm no expert, but one of my parents has worked in banking and finance for nearly two decades, so I usually hear pretty regularly from them about what's going on in the money markets, how things might look long-term, etc.

The AUD has definitely dropped from the heights it was at two weeks ago, but as we speak it's still worth roughly the US dollar, and is still at a decent level compared to the British pound as well, so it's not totally "suffering", but it's probably best to exchange now anyway. It's more likely to continue to go down at this point than make any significant "worth the wait" gains in the next 3-4 months before you travel.

If you find some way to look at the AUD LFX chart, which is the Australian dollar index, you can see that the aussie dollar is going up, and the USD LFX is going down. The index is the relative strength of the currency related to all the others.

the USD index has been fairly consistent, the reason the AUD USD exchange rate is lower is due to the aussie dollar dropping, it will almost certainly recover in the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe split your strategy and get half now and half later?

It seems like whenever the census is discussed anywhere, the focus always seems to come back to the religion question. Why does it matter so much?
Because many people who don't attend church, have any real interest in religion or perhaps even believe in God, just tick whatever religion they were raised, or thier parents were because being an 'athiest' is still a tiny bit taboo to them. A relic from a less informed time when you had to be religious.

Because of this every census the figures are skewed, and in turn religion gets a disproportionate amount of govt funding that should be spent on Health/Transport/anything else that actually affects most people.

These people need to get over themselves and move on from the 1950s "what will the neighbours say?" mindset, and realise that nobody cares that they're not actually religious. I'm a christened Catholic, as are both my parents, and we all went to Catholic schools growing up, but we've put "not religious" for all of us, because we never attend church and religion doesn't play even a minor part in our lives at all.

Then what are the numerous clowns that put "Jedi", "Collingwood" or some other rubbish in the religion column trying to achieve? They're usually the ones who are making the fuss about the question in the first place.

Couldn't agree with you more. Just giving my opion as to why people make a fuss about it, because alot of people won't answer properly.

You've summed it up nicely.

Yeah fair enough I suppose.

I would have thought the questions about where you work, how much you earn and how much you're paying on your home loan and so on would cause much more of a stink than any questions about religion, but they all seem to go straight through to the keeper without fuss.

The reason people are saying how corrupt they are, is because Qatar got the WC when USA/Aus (all the corrupt calls are coming for the western world) missed out, and most people think it is because the Arab soccer (or football if you prefer) officials paid off FIFA- because frankly it pretty stupid playing a WC in 50 degree heat.

As I understand it, earlier this year he ran an "investigation" into himself and the FIFA management run by himself, and of course found nothing- so, unsurprisingly, he was re-elected unopposed.

In conclusion, it's still corrupt, but there's not really much anyone can do about it. It's a classic story- too much power given to too few people.

People around the world have said it for many, many years before that. That was just one of two major events (along with our exit from the 2006 World Cup) that bought it into Australian minds and got people here thinking that they're corrupt. I'm not a conspiracy theorist nor an apologist by the way, but the "Blatter/FIFA is corrupt" calls have been going on around the world for ages.
