Pretty good, hey? :thumbsu:

Did the Hangover 2 thing.
One very well executed and funny scene with the "strippers"

That's it, except to be fair the characters are very well balanced and endearing.

Straight to my top 25 list...that doesn't really exist and is a bit fluid, but stored somewhere in my head.

Love the movies where within a couple of scenes you start to prime yourself for something fresh and special.
Waltz with Bashir did this for me. Beautifully executed film where the animation takes a distant back seat to the story.

It wasn't the dream sequence but the first distorted memory of beirut that captured me.....they nailed the soundtrack too

You've primed me for another viewing.
Being that I don't sleep these days, I may catch it after the game tonight.

I still owe you for Oldboy.
Still sitting fairly within one of the best movies I've viewed, period.

The Last Circus....brilliant...insane...but I don't know how to score it....just one of those movies you sit during the final credits and chuckle to yourself at the absurdity you've just witnessed....the final scene is gold

Super 8:

7.7 on IMDB?
Just when you hope that the end will pick this movie up to some sort of level, it spits at you.
If that isn't enough, there is just a little further attempt at humour that runs through the credits.
Shocking.

Addendum: Those Fanning girls are bloody good

Yup....sucked alien size balls I reckon

7/10 for mine. Entertaining if you look at it from an artsy point of view. Am studying a culture university unit and it's very much in the vogue of some of these movies. I enjoyed Super 8 for what it was. May not have said the same before I began this course.

Decisively average year for movies thus far.

Artsy? As in technical, as I personally didn't see much body behind this mish-mash of regurgitated ideas.
Watching it was like playing Sudoku with only three numbers missing.

Anyway, what do I know. IMDB had spoken.

Yeah, it was regurgitated garbage - parts of it. However, drawing watching it as a case study of mise-en-scène made it much more entertaining than I likely otherwise would have seen it. That and the two themes of the movie (teenager learning to live without of his mother (lost my Dad at 18 and then had my mother fall ill six months later) and the creature being 'trapped' in a foreign land spoke volumes to me as it's two things I relate to.

IMDB gets eaten up in the hype far too much. Spielberg? Wow!!! Abrams? Double Wow!!! Instant Classic!

Watched a Hong Kong film called Dream Home on the weekend.....what started off as an interesting social commentary on the cost of owning property in Hong Kong rapidly descended into farce and torture porn, 3/10

Sublime will love it ;)
