Here
Found this site while searching for info on the Tsunami in Asia. Some excellent images here but not much good for Dial-up.
Quite awesome stuff.

Moral to the story: if you're going to nude up or worse outdoors, do it under a tree.

These photos are of the town of Kalutara about 40km south of Colombo. I used to go to Kalutara a lot when I lived in Sri Lanka as we have friends that live in the district (they are inland though and thankfully all OK) All that area in the photos is very low lying except for where there is a large Bhuddist temple on the south bank of the river, next to the Galle Road bridge. It shows as a white dot at the bottom right hand corner of the bridge. The temple is set on a straight rise from the river about 5 metres high. The area where the waves are shown hitting the beach is densely populated and at sea level so very few people in that area would've stood a chance. The story is repeated around the country as a great deal of the population live on the coast and for a 20km stretch both North & South of Colombo there are many shanties right on the shore. The devastation of Galle town centre further south was incredible. The the only place that was not inundated were the higher levels of the Galle Fort which has 20ft high sea walls. The cricket stadium at the bottom of the Fort was badly damaged and the centre of town is in ruins. Many of the major cities along the coast suffered similarly, worst of all was Chilaw north of Colombo where over 8,000 people have been reported killed. It beggars belief. :(
