Regardless of the fines, he did wrong, but I also believe there are a few ferals in all crowds that tend to push too many insults at coaches and deserve a smack in the mouth.

I don't condone what Ayres did, but we forget it's also the coaches under pressure and they can get fired up too. Some spectators throw some disgusting taunts at all coaches.

He was always going to get fined. He comes out of it well. He has now well and truely won over the fickle Crows supporters who never gave Shaw a chance. Anyone who pics a fight with Ayres should be allowed to continue the fight. It would only happen once.

He deserved to be fined. His behaviour was not a good image.

As a Crows fan I was not to perturbed by it though as it showed passion. Would be happy for the club to pay the fine.

What was that moron in the crowd thinking? He obviously never saw Gary Ayres play for the Hawks. He wasn't known as Conan the Barbarian for nothing. If Ayres was serious he would have turned that guy into paper mache.
I think it's about time that loudmouths in the crowd pulled their heads in. The price of admittance should not (and does not) give a person the right to be abusive.
Part of me says a coach should have enough self discipline to ignore idiots in the crowd, but another part of me would love to see a coach or player nail a loudmouth spectator if he crosses the path of common decency.
I say good onya Gary, I may not agree with what you did but I defend your right to do it. You are a man of very high quality and community standing, you are doing a great job at Adelaide, and you are welcome back at Hawthorn any day of the week.
I will never forget what a great player you were and what a valuable contirubtion you made to the Hawks.
