Rix will goto Lions, if not will be at West Adelaide with Birss. Have heard that Crawf may end up having a kick part-time with Steve Greene, Simon Beaumont and possibly Tim Clarke at Old Melbourne.

Carey have signed Ryan Crozier - former Mitcham but more recently East Burwood. His brothers, Luke and Dean, are also likely to play there with him. Not sure if this is who you are referring to re Mitcham gun?

It must be...coz Mitcham had no "guns" last season!! they were rubbish!

Crawf wont play at OM's and if Beaumont is playing then Barry Stoneham may as well have a kick with SKOB, lets turn B Section into super rules.

Birss will play at Spotswood in WRFL if not selected in pre-season draft. Friend of ex-Demon Luke Molan.

Congrats to Lachlan Keefe the young OT ruckman who was rookied by Collingwood.

Does this mean Rambo will need to play in 2009?

Carey have been very active it he off season - Cam Howat will play there as will Rix - have also got all of the Crozier brothers (big units) fromMitcham as well as a nother couple of talls.

Look out for them, young list, new coach exciting recruits.

Appreciate the post Petrov

My counter arguments are:

> 15 U19's would be nice, but unrealistic - 3-4 stepping up to senior footy should be realistic from a significant 'player stream' OH taps into. If they can't secure 3-4 then again something wrong with their transition program i.e. perhaps see OH path to hard with so many old players clogging the system.

> that's great if you can secure Voss, Brown, Loewe and Harvey - we all still shake our heads as to how this is possible, but that's another argument. My underlying points are that these 4 players will not play in the 2nds - therefore 4 players capable of playing B Grade senior football are denied the chance each week (or whenever they play - bad luck to the guy being dropped for each of Harv's 8 games).

these guy's, probably 19-21 YO's I see as the future of the club and if OH get back into A Grade should be part of their stability. However if they have played a combined 60-80 less senior B Grade games (because they made way for old ex-AFL players) then they will not be ready for A Grade.

I doubt the 4 players will be playing, if and when OH get back into A Grade so the strategy sounds nice but i believe is detrimental to OH long term viability.

Ridiculous Post. You obviously know nothing about the current situation of school footy at Haileybury. Go and do your research and then come back with an informed comment.

You shake your head as to how Voss, Brown, Leowe & Harvey arrive at Haileybury. Have a look at two out of the last three coaches at OH and that might explain something.

Have you thought about the experience of training with these type of individuals might actually give to young kids.

Whoopee do - How about these kids playing instead?

Pity they can't get a game as there's 4 blokes with an average age of 36 keeping them out of the side.

I'd rather play B section senior footy than play B reserve.......oh but I'd get to train with the above 4 as some sort of consolation.

onya Birdie Dumb Dumb

My research (experience) tells me that there was turmoil half way through '08 season as a number of guys in the 2nds questioned why they were not getting a seniors birth after some solid efforts - 2 guys in particular.

No doubt your one of these guys that gets a hard-on just thinking about having a ex-AFL guy...no, wait for it, 4 ex-AFL guys playing at OH.

Your self centred views typify why OH will again be in B Grade '09 & '10 and may even be nudged to C Grade

all the best

You missed my point. The reason the OH U/19's struggle is due to the lack of enthusiasm from the school kids towards footy. This is due to the scholarship situation. I was trying to make the point that the club cannot rely totally on the school as they have two senior sides of which many go and play local, VFL or AFL footy.

The club, like many, struggle with getting young kids motivated to play footy once they leave school.

Starters for 2009 (No Order)

Ormond
St Bernard's
Old Haileybury
Hampton Rovers
Uni Blacks
Old Trinity
Old Carey
St Kevins
Old Camberwell
Old Melburnians

Thoughts for the year?
How will Uni Blacks & Old Trinity cope with the drop?
Can Ormond & Hampton serve it up to the rest?

Fair section. Reckon the boys from the snake pit should win this year

anyone want to make some VERY early ladder predictions, possible GF team, teams they think will struggle, players to watch out for etc

Rumour has it:

The former Old Xavs and Old Ivanhoe player (and Brisbane, Geelong and Hawthorn) Aaron Lord is heading down to Old Camberwell for a kick.

Wonder what type of employment they got him?

I heard that too. Also heard that Old Carey has recruited very tall and very well.

Ben Jordan is a massive get for the Bernies. He is one of the best local footy players i've ever seen. Will add great leadership to what is apparantly a very young squad.
