Geez Max, you changed your final ladder around quickly! Expect Coughlan to come back in this week, he will make a massive difference to the Skev's midfield. I'm not sure that SKOB will lose 3 in a row after only losing 5 all year so Skev's should finish in the 4.
The 2nd semi will be a crucial game, and if its OH who play OC then it's almost a leave pass for OC straight into the granny, and I'm tipping the winner of the 1st semi will beat OH the in the prelim.
Now who will that be...
My final four is

Carey
Haileybury
St Kevin's
Ivanhoe

Odds are looking like a Carey vs SKOB Grand Final.

Yes I am the 1st to admit it is a big turnaround.

It is based soley on the statistics. If OC win by the average winning margin since round 10 (76 points), St. K %age will drop to around 116, and as OH and OI %age is already higher than this, and given that they both should have somewhat comfortable wins next week, then St. K will be 4th. If Ubl touch up St.B as OC did on the weekend, then St.K may find itself 5th. Even if they win the last game, they still may find themselves watching from the sidelines during finals.

And do you think Uncle Mick and his crew are going to give you easy passage in the last game, I don't think so.

I must have missed my medication and slept for 3 weeks bc i am sure SKOB only lost 1 game on the w-e.......if Carey are sown up for top spot maybe they should rest a few this week, they can't do it in the last round;)

Blacks were very solid in the conditions - uni oval is a pig pen - they should beat Bernies next week on that form.

Good post Maxxy – although I have to disagree with your final ladder predication leaving my beloved tri-colours out in the cold in 5th place (but surely you will allow me my bias on that!!)

UB deserved the win on the weekend and I agree with Tutt that on that form they will get the win this week against the Snowdogs setting up a very interesting final round. They adjusted much better to the conditions and, assisted by some big bodies, where able to push the footy forward better than our boys and get the lead and hold it for most of the day.

I must say I was a little disappointed that what promised to be a great game of footy for spectators didn’t pan out that way due to the condition of the ground on what was otherwise a prefect day footy. The oval at the Uni is the worse I have seen it ever – not a single green blade of grass on the entire oval and pretty much cut up all over. Speaking with the UB boys the oval gets a working from shared duties between blues, blacks, ladies footy and baseball. On top of that they have planted a summer grass which brings it up cherry ripe for cricket but struggling in the winter. Unfortunately for everyone their hands are tied so you got to cope what you get in terms of the conditions you play in but I arrived hoping for more!!

If I can play the devil’s advocate Maxxy I think the following may happen and the ladder will look like this:

• OC
I agree that bc of their superior % and the fact that they play MHS in the final round regardless of the result this week they should finish minor premiers

• SKOB
I still think our boys are a fighting chance this week and will be keen to test OC at our home ground and hopefully get the chocolates. I will be very surprised if the result either way is anywhere near the average 76 pts but you are only going on the facts so I won’t shoot the messenger. Haven’t checked the forecast but hoping for a day to bring the best out in both sides!

The following week vs HR, while being a hard fought game (they always are against Uncle Mick and his crew), that we should get the win on the basis of we will have more to play for. Based on that and, pending % and other results, it may a battle for 2nd spot but my bias will let me pick my boys to stay in the top 2

• OH
Have a very tough week this week against the Krushers followed by an easier assignment against the departing OE. I don’t think either game will be a blow out against proud clubs with different motivation (I suspect OE will throw the kitchen sink and then some into their final game in B) but would guess that OH will get the 2 wins and, as per above, will be a % issue that keeps them out of double chance

• OI
Play OE and the Snow dogs in the final 2 and the game at the Pine Lodge looms large. Loss that and I think they miss – win and they will be OK provided the % stays roughly the same in relation to UB. A lot will depend on the state of the snow dogs in the final round and whether the snow dogs can keep a small glimmer of hope alive this week vs UB or at least do OI a favour and limit UB’s % at 5:00pm.

• UB
As stated above, based on the weekends form and if the pit is still rated a heavy track (??) they should get a win this week and leave themselves Oak at the Uni in the final round. Think they will win that as I don’t remember Oak being that big in the body either and the ground will play a big part so I really think it’s a % issues with OI for the final spot. Alternatively, loss this week to St B and that’s the ball game for them while I still don’t believe St B can get there even with that result.

With all due respect to the others I think that the fact they are a game behind at least, drawn home is not kind and they are % away from those above, that the season is in over for them. Would love both the snow dogs and the krushers to prove me wrong on that but it will take a good effort with everyone else has more to play for!

So we still have a cracking race for finals on our hands and, in one of the most attractive parts of the whole VAFA system, I think there is hardly a dead rubber in any of the last 10 games which is amazing!!

Probably somewhere more deserving of a double drop club, like Green Gully reserve!
Sorry lads, but you appear to have followed Kid Boga and don't post here anymore, so you won't know anyway. It's a Tiger Woods like meltdown.

Whats the go here - first I have heard of it! Where are OE moving to?? Pineapple/Kid boga can you shed some light?

moving just around the corner to keilor park.........if you think elsternwick is windy just wait until you play at keilor park..........total nightmare

That's correct. A couple of years ago the school bought land in Keilor Park for a sporting complex. The complex is now finished so OEG will be based out there from next year. The facilities for visiting teams should be a welcome change from the current shoe box.

Hope they take the canteen with them Pineapple - it remains the best hot dog I've had this year!!

On a serious note sounds like some good news for your boys in what has been a long year! Whats the rub on the ground - ie size, condition, viewing etc?

Well brian u finally got me to respond. The new complex at keilor park is superb.New clubhouse, huge ground, state of the art lighting, great set up.

Great news KB, welcome back. Don't worry about being bullied by the Hampton posters, you had lots to contribute and I hope you continue to.
OEG will be happy to secure a terrific venue instead of playing on that little oval out the back of PEGS, sounds like a fillip for the club to rebuild with.
So what is your take on the season? I must say the 2 times I watched your mob you had 90% of your team playing that has been around for 5 years or so, is there really going to be hard decisions made out your way?

Keilor Park is the windiest venue in all Victorian leagues.

Forget Williamstown, Elsternwick, Sandringham etc... this place takes the cake.

Just heard an interesting rumour, anyone from Hampton want to confirm? Matt Robbins has quit as coach of Hampton, 1 year into a 3 year deal

Matt's intimated that he wants to play again next year. Given the VAFA rules that are in place it's highly inconceivable that he will be able to perform a playing coach role at HR.

Any indication UM on whether he intends to play in VAFA next year?? If so are the Rovers a chance to retain his services??

I ask bc I thought that you could coach/play you just couldn't get paid to do it (or only a minumal amount to cover expenses) - Scribe can you confirm this for me??

My understanding is he has every intention of playing VAFA footy.

As for being a playing coach, I had a discussion with one of our more Senior players about the idea of him getting the right people on board to assist him from the bench next year if it were a means of keeping him in the top job. We think he's a great fit for the club as a coach, but there are other factors that are influencing his ability to commit in 2011. He's certainly a required person at HR.
With respect to being paid as a playing coach, I believe you're right. I'm not sure what the 'minimal' figure is though.

On a side note, we've already had a couple of players express their desire to play with us next season. 1 is a former AFL footballer and the other a HR/VFL footballer who went to the EFL this season, but wants to come back. We're still in 2010 though, so who knows what the future holds and whether it comes to fruition. If they do, we'll be quietly confident of a solid season in B next year. Especially with Corp expected back from O/S in Feb and another year of experience in this Section.

Anyway, that can be discussed after September. We're looking fwd to this weekend and hopefully turning around our recent slump which has seen us drop 4 in a row.

Strange that he is not able to be a playing coach due the VAFA rules regarding playing coaches, but he still wants to play in the VAFA.
It seems simple, if he wants to play in the VAFA then he can coach at the same time and not be paid. If he wants payment for his services then he doesn't play or he leaves the VAFA.
