The highly credentialed independent assessor is over the moon at the standard of posts this week. No carlamity to get over and not one low non- footy sock - ah what a week. Footy focused, interesting, constructive and sociable. The insightful one is contemplating heading down to the cellar to seek out a bottle of “Grange” in celebration. What a week! What a team of posters! What a forum! :thumbsu:

To add to this "love in"

Oakleigh: on field, they are struggling, off field, every player came in the room for a beer (District clubs love their beers, School boy teams love their "water"). The visitors rooms were left cleaner than when they got there. A Grade effort.

Thank god the muppets have gone back into hiding. Still waiting for SOCA to tell us who was at the Thursday night training. He made it clear that OOB was not.

If both Old Carey & St Kevins win this week, the Round 17 match between these two sides will have more than just 4 premiership points up for grabs. Seeing that both teams will finish 1-2 at the end of the home & away season, and will possibly meet in the second semi final a fortnight later, what would both the coaches of St Kevins & Old Carey do-go all out with 4 premiership points and bragging rights at stake, or play it safe and get an idea of each team's strengths & weaknesses with an eye to the 2nd semi and possibly the grand final as well?

No point in flirting with form at this time of year Jase. Reckon both would be going flat tack so as to go into the finals with a mental edge. St Kevs are looking menacing so we can expect a few posts from Briza underplaying their move to equal flag favourites.;)

Someone did a book a little while back. Perhaps it's time for an update.

I agree with Ammo Man Jase - flirting with form is a dangerous game to play!! I'm pretty sure both teams will want the win, want top spot, want whatever mental edge they can find and more importantly want to keep the momentum rolling on!!! On top of that blokes will want to keep their spot in the team so it’s a brave man who puts in a sub-standard effort on the eve of finals!!!

I agree that 1st and 2nd appear to be pretty safe with 2 games and a far wack of % (more in OC’s case than SKOB) separating them from the chasers.

As for 3rd and 4th spot I’m almost about to give up guessing as so far I have been proven wrong every time I put pen to paper. Regardless, I’ll have another crack looking at the contenders run home:

· Though St B would get the chocolates on the weekend to help their run home however no such luck. They have the worse run with OC, UB and OI to finish so they have their work cut out IMO to make it.
· UB also have a hard run home with SKOB, St B and then OAK to finish. Will need 2 wins at least to have any hope and need to kick some scores in there somewhere for a % boast. At the risk of stating the obvious it makes this weeks game all important
· OI have the C bound teams in MHS and OE followed by potentially season defining game in St B in the final round at the Pine Lodge. It could all come down to this game for both premiership points and % in a race with UB
· OH have the district team double of HR and OAK followed by OE. Will get a very solid performance from the Rovers and Krushers but think they will get the win ultimately and see off OE for 3 wins and 3rd spot based on %

Therefore I’ll go with OH for 3rd and OI for 4th, potentially both with 12 wins but OH on superior %. The race for 6th is still open as well for OAK to get there over St B but its pretty academic really.

Thoughts???

Hail and Ivanhoe to finish 3rd and 4th after looking at the draw.
Think Rd 17 will be more important for Skevs than Carey as they wont want to head into a 2nd semi after losing both games to Carey during the year. I think Carey would go into a 2nd semi still confident if they lose at skevs home ground as long as it was by 3-4 goals tops.
Saw Skevs demolish High on the weekend and while opposition was poor and have nothing to play for skevs are running into some top form. Should be a greast finals series. If OI and OH make it they are very dangerous teams if full strength. Weatherley may be the man to watch!

seems the final 4 spots are lcoked in with both OI and OH having easy runs home

SKOB
OC
OH
OI

my final four
SKOB v OC will be a great game with big influence on the finals i feel
I see M. Douglas is back for Haileybury, for important player going into finals
Injuries this late in the year could also be crucial to the outcome of the four

I'll have a crack at it:

2.25 Carey
3.50 SKOB
4.75 OIvan (with Weatherly otherwise swap with OH)
6.5 OH
11 Uni Blacks
13 St.Berns
101 Oak

Got a feeling the Bernies boys may get up this week against the OC which may change things up a bit....

TP, I think the Bernies boys are G.O.N.E and won't play finals this year, the interesting thing to see will be if all sides can get back some of their injured stars.

Bedford staying at the top due to consistency, The Snag making a late run!

I agree with you Briza - the snow dogs needed to win the 2 x 8 point games they had in the final 4 rounds (being OH on the weekend and OI in the final round) to play finals.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to win on the weekend and they are far from a "mathematical chance" but they have the hardest run home by far and will need to beat the top side on the weekend just to stay level with the pack having dropped one to the 3rd side on the weekend just gone.

Who are these stars you talk of?? OI have Weatherly to come from holiday/travel commitments (Maxx?), OC are pretty full aren't they as the other 2 are or am I missing something?

I'll have a go...

2.10 Carey
2.30 Skevs
7.00 OI
10.00 OH
20.00 Blacks
50.00 Bernies
201 Oak

reckon you're close to the mark with most of 'em. the best outfit i've seen this year were o.i early on. their forward defensive work was excellent, they ran and carried well and hit targets. and they spread and ran hard. they gave rovers a footy lesson and did it without weatherley having any impact.didn't see 'em second time around but they've been off the boil for sometime. but they seem to be finding form at the business end of the season. i'd rank 'em with o.h and at 10s i reckon they are the value bet.

this week:

carey
rovers let's hope vossy is worn like a second skin and a fist meets the pill whenever ford is near it.
hoers
blacks in the surprise.
krushers to bounce back.

I like most of these too. Blacks are a good running side and will match up very well on Skevs and are at home desperate to stay in the race.
- so

Yep, we had 10 Senior team changes from the Round 9 game but you guys had seven so while injuries and availablities can knock you around, it gives opportunities to others. We look forward to the respect-rivalry in ensuing years and good luck if OI stay in the four - look to a Prelim final berth - you've beaten all 3 teams ahead of you.
