Unfortunately, the game which we found out about coincided with our game. I was hoping for some stuff from 2009.

Saw them against Caulfield.

Like to switch, and run forward.
Look slick going forward, but struggle if turned over
Very strong at CHB and Full Forward
Always drop the Ruckman back to be a spare man in defense.
Kick long from full back for kick outs.
Play tall on the wings.
Got smashed out of the middle as the game went along.
Hope that helps

Good to see some support for the underdog. If anyone has got any form on Old Carey, then that would be appreciated, PM me please. Its hard coming up from a lower grade, as has been covered in recent posts.

This is a gee-up right? Its taken your club until the Thursday before round 1 to scout your first round opponent when you have had all summer? and you choose to find your info on an internet forum...

Good luck...

Bit of spare time on my hands this morning, below are the current picks for this weekends round 1:

Old Ivanhoe 25 picks V MHSOB 0 Picks - No love for the Unicorns Round 1

Old Essendon 20 Picks V Hampton Rovers - 5 Picks - Former A grade side clear favourites.

Uni Blacks 23 Picks V Old Haileybury 2 Picks - Word is Haileybury are very reliant on Voss & other ex AFL players are finished

St Kevins 17 Picks V St Bernards 8 Picks - Game of the Round. Two teams that should be right amongst it come finals time

Old Carey 18 Picks V Oakleigh 7 Picks - Bit of love for the Krushers. Will be interesting to see if OC talk can live up to expectations.

Best of luck to everyone on the weekend.

Changing my tips based on inside info!
SKOB
Blacks
Old Carey
OEG
OI

final prediction pre r1
(for seasons end)

top 4- bernards, blacks, oeg, skob

relegation- will be an absolute sh1tfight... not really any easy games. Will go with oakleigh and mhsob...only as i havnt seen them yet and i reckon hamtpon will be much better this year, as will OC. OH could get a fright if they get some big injuries but should be ok.

Grand finalists- again, very hard to split my top 4. could be any combination for mine... will go with bernards and blacks at this stage.

Best in Comp- Dowd (skob may get the trifecta with simpson and coughlan)... d Biggs in there aswell

Most goals- hard to pick with no gia, cultera, rambo going around... ill go with skurrie from oeg

Big improvers- Hampton

I know this gets said every year but I reckon this year is so even it ridicolous. I dont reckon there will be a huge amount of wins between 1st and 7th.

good luck to all

must be insightful, you have tipped all the favourites.

Boys,

Long time reader first time poster (almost) but thought I'd dip my toe in the water for season 2010.

Agree with Brian for this week's tips although this is based more so on Chris' logic that without any really form or inside information I'll go with the favorites.

Game of the round to be the SKOB vs StB game - this should be a cracker!

Best in Comp- Dowd (skob may get the trifecta with simpson and coughlan)... d Biggs in there as well

Murph, Im tipping if as you say SKOB have the 3 best midfielders in the comp, then they will push up a little higher, they should get better as the season goes with some recent VFL recruits easing into the season.
Personally I think it will depend on injuries and a little luck.
Re Harves, look for him to leave at 3/4 time if he does play as per last season.
Kid Boga, I love your enthusiasm, good to see after possibly the worst season in your clubs history, it was almost a 9 team A Section last year!!!

Surely he hasn't tipped the Rovers out at Essendon?

nice to see you've awoken from your b.f slumber, rolly.:D if you'd taken the time to wander through the tips you'd have noted quite a few have picked rovers. and if you join the dots you may even be able to work out why.;)

jas,

i believe harvs will play a few. loewe has retired.

that top 4 was not in any order
as i said...could be any combo of those 4 teams in the last game of the year
they have had the 2 best onballers for the past however many years and failed to get into the granny, will one more make a massive difference?... this year could be different but as you say time will tell.

Im tipping Mark Coughlan might go just okay in B Section VAFA!

Well what a busy week it has been.

1) Bob - repeat offender - YELLOW CARDED
2) wysisyg - ungracious comment but his retraction didn't sell - UPGRADED TO RED
3) Brian - factual error (the first on this website) leading to minor hysteria and subsequent pox remark - YELLOW CARD

4) Nanny Goat B - for trying to confuse the Hampton Rovers new coach - YELLOW CARDED

Gold Star goes to LF for putting those numbers together.

OEG may have had a bad year, however we are a tough lot.Next time we have a chance at A section we will be prepared and have players that are competitive.Old Brighton went up and down about three times before they consolidated. We have nothing to prove, just keep watching the results.
