The Rock has been working 24/7 as you are no doubt aware JGH, and I must say it was a terrific atmosphere and huge crowd on the weekend.

What has happened to your weekly gig on the VAFA website? I must say I wont miss Maxine but I enjoyed your musings about life and the VAFA. Any chance you can reload and have a weekly gig here on BF that we can all respond too?

Yeah bit busy these days Briza - plus I completely ran out of topics! But still keep abreast of the fine comp, keep up the good work Brian

I too am sick of talking about this incident BNN, but in direct reposnse to your question and to put it into context I'll answer your question. The hit took place at CHF 40m from goal at the tennis court end. The ball at this stage was on HBF near the scoreboard so approx. 100m away. With OEG kicking towards the tennis court end in the final term, a group of approx. 30-40 OEG supporters congregated behind the goals which is common practice at most clubs. Therefore, the king hit was in the line of sight of pretty much everyone behind the goals and hence why so many people on this forum managed to see the hit.

Thanks for the response. You have made it much clearer. Must be a massive ground!

It's pretty obvious how the crowd saw the incident champ, they were standing behind the goals, it happened at full forward and as the play moved away the two players were clearly in the line of vision.

KB, seriously though i've got to agree with BS here, enough is enough. The VAFA are handling it. No one on here from HR is condoning what happened and have openly agreed that the player should and will be suspended by the VAFA. I predict 6-8 weeks.

Look for OEG to bounce back hard this week after a very ordinary performance, we had 7 new players in our side on the weekend, hopefully we gel together shortly. And by the way, we never touted ourselves as a top 2 side, I think you'll find we're all about regaining respect after an embarrasing 2009
:thumbsu:

thankyou for settling the situation down, i think we can all find common ground that it was unsavory and the VAFA can handle it, and we can all move on to this weekends games.

agree wholeheartedly with your second para 'the goats'. it's perfectly understandable that those close to the incident have strong emotions.on the other hand, having the odd individual with no knowledge or involvement stirring up disharmony for the sake of getting some jollies is unhelpful and counterproductive.

the vafa is experienced in these matters. let the independent investigator marshall the facts and make his recommendation and the cards fall where they may. once again, well said 'tg':thumbsu:

your an idiot...most senior teams in australia would be exactly the same.
No, it seems whoever left the keys in the van is an idiot Chris! It sounds like your mob are a rabble on and off the field.

In other news, it was great to have a few of our ex coaches down at McKinnon on the weekend, including Nicho. I'm sure they were left in awe of some of the extraordinary moves pulled off by the great man Lappa, who steered his young and exhuberant side so close to a major upset against the men in black. If we hadnt have lost the time clock in the last quarter we would have won!

Look for our lads to give it to our old rivals Hampton this weekend, we will all be wearing helmets, including our spectators and have 45 cameras trained on the ground for any snipers behind play.

Well haven't we all had a bit to say regarding the issue. I will say again, i doubt the Rovers player hit the Essendon player for no reason. Something may have sparked it...perhaps being hit first??

Anyway, another tough round coming up for all clubs. None more so than us. After being significantly beaten in all areas on the ground last Saturday, we are looking to bounce back. We are confident that our home ground advantage will come into play here. If we can restrict St Kevins to tough, tight football, something we think they will not like, it may go a long way to us notching up our first win this season.

Good Luck to all teams.

It was broken into bud. We will see who the rabble is in a few weeks time. I dont care what happened on the weekend, you blokes will be also-rans again this year.

I find it absurd that on a day where many sections didnt play, that the VAFA only supplied field and goal umpires and we had the super ridiculous where St Bernards couldnt even supply a boundary umpire, yet they had 22 players from the ressies watching the game. They had their water carriers acting as pseudo boundary umpires, which is outrageous, this is not Premier B football, St Bernards should get a kick up the arse for not being organised enough, very, very poor form.

If Benny Goodman is getting paid and making lots of noise about how great a job he is doing, then why the f.ck did this happen today....LIFT YOUR GAME BENNY AND VAFA.

Brian do expect one of the reserves players who have just played 100 or so minutes of football to run the boundary do you?

If St. Bernards should get a kick up the arse for not being organised then I think St. Kevins should get a kick up the arse for allowing alcohol to be drunk in the marquee during the match?

I saw a group of women sitting at a table endulging in a bottle of white throughout the match, so I take it St. Kevins had a special permit to allow alcohol to be consumed throughout the match at the game last Saturday?

They werent harming anyone but I was under the impression there was no alcohol to be consumed at ammo matches, has this rule changed?

Yeah in Junior football maybe.

At my club, the players buy their own jumper, socks, shorts and even their own numbers.

Well at our club we get our jumpers every week. Good on your club for making you purchase jumpers.

Westy & Cubzy : Thats What I'm Talking About. We need to change that perception somehow.

CC, do everyone a favour a buzz off, you are a oxygen thief. Everyone on here know's your agenda & to be honest you are boring. So go back to typing with one hand and viewing your regular sites you cat.

On the jumper topic;

At HR only from this year have players owned their own jumpers, up until this year it was the club who would wash and bring them to games. Each player owning their own jumper is clearly a better option and a money saver for the club.

I expect a club in Premier B to be professional enough to have someone to run the boundary, not lads in yellow shirts dropping their water bottles to throw the ball in, what a joke, would never have happened under the previous admin. In regards to the ladies drinking wine, perhaps you should post a pic, because it didnt happen and anyone can make up stuff on the internet....produce evidence!!!
I agree with Griffo re OH, lets see how they settle in.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention VAFA06 – rest assured the club will hold a full internal investigation to decipher how these women got hold of the said bottle. This sort of thing cannot be tolerated, the last thing we want is a large rowdy group of drunken women at each game – what’s next? streaking? We won’t rule out that they purchased the bottle before the commencement of the seniors and consumed it within the designated area as per VAFA rules but we will wait and see. Maybe these same women were responsible for the disappearance of the St.Bernards econovan? A modern day Thelma & Louise maybe…….FOR ****’S SAKE!

MHG please take the following advice as constructive criticism - it is far better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all shadow of doubt....

Not sure if it is too early or late to start talking the dreaded "R" word down there but a bad loss this weekend could potentially put you 2 games (4 points + %) behind everyone else - which is a mighty effort considering we are only 2 rounds in.....

Solid deflection there you peanut and some very solid mayonnaise on what you stated above......... I'd check the rules before you try another defensive PROD - the highlighted areas have been done so to assist in your investigation into the rules pertaining to luncheons at VAFA venues.

I am very sorry that our females choose not to skull their drinks - we are little more refined at the KING.

The only special permit we got on saturday was a satisfying first up victory at the new venue.

I'm still struggling to get my little brain around the concept of a player not buying his own jumper, and taking it to/from matches himself. We all have to buy shorts x 2, socks, and boots as part of our match-day kit, why not a jumper for $70 once-off? What's the rationale?

Seems rather odd to me.

One the second, less controversial, topic of not having someone to run the boundary for the seniors, well this is a team effort between Benny Goodman and his decimated umpiring ranks (I hear they had a record number of absences for rd 1, even though only half the grades/sections were actually playing) as well as the Bernies crew perhaps not being able to call upon helpers given they were playing away for round 1.

I'm firmly of the view clubs should try to roster injured players on for match-day duties where appropriate, and you'd like to think a young lad recovering from a non-leg related injury could be encouraged to put himself out for his mates.

Still, Gen-Y are a bit different to us old crusty Gen-Xers!:D

Which game this week should be given "Match of the Day" status in Premier B?

i've gone for bernies cos its at the snake pit but don't underestimate the krushers they're well drilled and hard at it. wouldn't be surprised if there's an upset.

btw: o.t.p thanks for doing the tipping list.

if we all ignore his tripe he has no oxygen and lively harmonious discussion becomes the order of the day once again.

I’m with BS on this one. Playing on Saturday was:
3 of the 7 senior sections
1 of the 5 U19 sections
0 of the 2 U18 sections

Even taking into account these decimated umpiring ranks if no boundary umpires could be found for a B section fixture based on the above number of games then we are in all sorts.
