I wouldn't mind getting him,

the only concern I have and this is with all players of any race/religion.

Is how religious is he??

Things like fasting, beliefs, culture etc and other things might not allow him to gel/bond as well in a team environment. Lets face it, AFL is tough and you need a good strong bonding team that can hang out together and eat together and socialise together.

Melbourne in 2000 would've been so cut that their own president couldn't come to the GF to do his job due to the Jewish belief of no work etc during the Sabbath.

I think this is the reason why we do not see more ethnic, highly religious people in AFL circles.

Culture isn't a major problem to me. My major concern would be fasting - one whole month without eating from sunrise to sunset. If its a night match it won't be a problem, but if it a day match than he couldn't play and fast - and also, unless he doesn't fast, he won't be able to pray. I know from a friend that he will not be fasting during the draft camp, though not to sure on what he'll do during an actual season.

All i know in regards to your interest in Houli was I was speaking 2 my mates uncle and the club were in contact while the draft camp was on and are very keen to sign him.

Will most likely be between pick 19 and 35.

i think fasting only just started. it's not during footy season. also he wasn't fasting at draft camp, apparently he can work around it. i'd be more worried about him not being able to join in on mad monday

Would like to draft him, but not at 17 or 19. If he is around at 35, great, take him, but I highly doubt he will be.

This is why the picks we will potentially get for Thornton are of huge importace. If we get one in the 15 range, and one in the 25 range, that could mean Petterd/O'Brien definitely at the club, and maybe Houli.

That is why we need to be careful what we trade Thornton for. If we don't get a suitable deal, send him to the PSD.

But I would like to get Houli.

It might not be during the season now, but as it's based of the Lunar calender, it starts ten days earlier every year. In a couple of years fasting will be during mid September. He might break fast for games, but knowing his cousin and reading his articles, I can't see him breaking fast four days a week (training, matches). That being said however, I wouldn't mind picking him up if he's worth the pick, and all the best to him, would be happy to see him in Carlton jumper next season.

Its totally up to the habib. Footy or his liberal beliefs.
If he cant play footy and follow his religion moderately, then he is a bad muslim and will be a bad afl player. The religion states that during your work you shouldnt pray/fast which will compromise the bread and butter you put on the table. Well this guys obviously brainwashed by his habibi friends and will never bond with any afl team.
Good luck to him when he looks back and thinks what could have been
well done habibi and now go and pray

I don't want him at 17 or 19 because I think we have enough players who are that size and lack legspeed. I'd prefer Carlton to target players such as Connors/O'Brien/Schmidt who are said to have pace and talls such as Ben Reid/Everitt if they're available.

I think Houli has injury concerns as well and we need to hit a home run with every selection.

Oh!

And no Petterd!
.

U...your not aload to open that mouth of yours anymore u racist coward..Houli does have legspeed..he ran 20 metres in 2.97 secs..11th fastest at draft camp..i dont know about you but thats pretty fast..his been in the top ten of the 3km run and in the beep test..thats the makings of a real champion.

Also, for all you people that think that if your arab or u follow a different religon..u can b successful if you put your mind to it..no matter what...u hear that CYPHER!..

Houli is a good bloke and deserves to be drafted..he'll be a great addition to any team..hopfully CARLTON pick him up!..

Hay buddy..you have misunderstood everything there is about his religon. it says you are allowed to break your fast if you have to put bread on your table..i seriously think houli can make an impact to any AFL team!..just wait and see..

Also do your research before you start talking about things you know absoultly NOTHING about.

Regards
