I feel so special to be quoted 4 times!

Who do Essendon have on their list that can nullify a Hodge or a Judd.

Andrew Welsh has on more then one occassion easily accounted for Judd.

And Hawthorn were silly enough to play Hodge on Gumbleton early last year, thinking he would be able to run off the big man. Two hours later Hodge was so stuffed from trying to keep up he was run down by Hille in the goal square.

Maybe I have fallen off one bandwagon and on to the other.

I thought last Thursday highlighted every one of his problems and was almost an I told you so on behalf of the anti-Houli faction of Essedon supporters.

I know he is capable at AFL level and I hope he makes it but he would not want to be disposing of the ball (by hand and, surprisingly, foot) like he did in round 1 for too much longer.

Shat himself 2 or 3 times, got bodied out of it by much smaller blokes & turned it over.
Him & Edwards really looked out of their depth.

Agree....i was at the game and saw 3 times a player squib a contest....and 2 of them were Houli (the other was Simpson).

Did anyone else see Bachar duck his head and drop the mark from a high ball (i think late in 2nd) near the centre of the ground???? Was an easy and uncontested mark for anyone who wasn't so distracted by the sound of foot steps.

I like the bloke and hope he can fix this, improve on the inconsistency of his skills, and carve himself a long and successful career....i have my doubts though. :(

Yep with Armfield coming at him, I think Armfield gave away the free but that was lucky for Bach who'd already dropped it.

Late on he did actually take a mark under the same sort of pressure but IMHO he'll always be making those same mistakes (poor under high ball, loopy handball, dishing early rather than drawing the hit) in the same situations.
5th year now. Leopard, spots.

Watched him closely last night and he was terrible.

Didn't think he was much chop in the first round but last night was very poor.

The game was a pretty fierce contest and he went missing. Saw a number of half hearted attempts at the contest and a lot of watching the play.

he had a couple of ok long high balls, a couple of shocking high balls, one or two reasonable pieces of play.

But what stood out is what a ****ing seagull he is. Always hovering 2 metres outside the pack, never going in to get the pill himself. Sheepdog of the highest order

He was hilariously bad for the majority. He suits Richmond :)

Would be lucky to get a game at Bendigo at the moment judging by that performance, let alone Essendon.

* As I wipe egg from face *

Yeah, Houli wasn't really anywhere last night. By contrast, Robbie Nahas had no thought for his own well-being. Consider their respective body sizes and Houli should be embarrassed.

Yep, just doesn't direct his kicks to the right place-continues to 'sky' the ball and give opposition backman time to get to the ball...

and he had no thought on where to kick or what to do with the ball. It was champagne comedy.

Michael Quinn >> Nahas, Houli

Haha, I also remember a similar thread about this time last year for McPhee.

5 times.

Of course it's easy to goad us about McPhee's departure, we feel like we missed a pick and many here including myself are still bleeding about that. We don't miss the man though. He showed his true colours through the incident and he's not the kind of man we want in the red and black.

Houli's very different, we thought he was worth very little and weren't really annoyed to see him walk. We got what he was worth.

I'll admit I was disappointed he left because I thought he could come good but I'm not bothered at all now (was seduced by his fantastic game vs the saints last season).

Have been watching him closely and he really doesn't like the physical stuff, it's almost as if his first reaction is to flinch or avoid contact (even when he should be tackling) and then he remembers he needs to go hard. To his credit he usually does at this point but most of the times the moment is lost.

This.:thumbsu: The guy's a squib. No more threads on him please.

30 possesions each game the last 2 weeks, tonight at 83% efficiency and last week 73 %. I've watched live both games and he is making the occasional error but which player doesn't, but he's kicking boot is back on, some very nice penetrating kicks. Pretty embarassing thread for some people.
