Bad Beat/Vent/Brag thread

Probably said it beforehand, I dunno why, but I seem to struggle in deepstack games with a certain amount of players involved (I feel 50+ player fields with 125k+ start stacks is just bogey areas for me)

Literally get past the 2nd break in these games quite easily, then I get blinded out or don't win a flip as my hand strength quality just diminishes, yet I play a moderate stack size game against 60-70 players and my results are miles miles miles better, the only difference I can see is less total chips in these games which is the only reason that I can see why I've gone ok in deepstack games with less opponents (30-40 player range)

Apart from that man it absolutely shits me, next year I think I just have to completely cut down and play games that are only in the 75-100k stack range, or deepstack games that have under 50 players.

That being said having absolutely garbage final table runs, either card dead and get blinded out, or I'll pick up a hand with a dwindling stack and get called by something marginal and they get what they need (have had kings cracked by 9s and jacks cracked by ace rag which were 2 of the more painful ones)

KQ blinds are 3/6k and button raises to 15k SB calls as do I in the BB - we each have a healthy 120k plus stack - so some caution advised

Flop is A6 with a King of hearts - nut flush draw with a K but assume the button has an A - check check button bets another 15k - call call - I did consider jamming here but wanted a safety net of a diamond turning up on the turn

But it was a 9 black - check check and button jams 100k - SB gets out of the way

My flop strategy was to jam so thats where I am leaning but old me takes over and looks at my stack - now 96k - and thinks I can still do so much

I consider his range and possible hands and confirm to myself he has an A at least . I wonder if SB had a raggy A and that is why they folded and if that helps me in any way

The flop bet had me wondering if he also had a raggy A or AJ/AT etc but the jam is interesting. Maybe its bullying

I look around and think this is where you build a stack or go home.

I call and they turn over A9 - ok thats why - well my 2 pair strategy is gone and I am left with a K or a diamond to stay in

And it hits and the button went from smiling to full tilt in a nano-second ' how can you call that!'' etc etc but new me scoops in the 270k pot and say '' I got lucky ''

SB said they had KQh

That set me up for final table where I ended up taking 300k to and sitting back and playing spots

And won the lot with 2 raggy Aces catching cards

3 left A6 I jam and up against AT and a 6 on the flop holds

Heads up A7 against TT with the A on the river

Nice win GC, but that is definitely a spot you should be jamming flop at that stage of the tournament. Pot is 75k and you have 110, perfect size for a semi-bluff when you have so much equity if called. Button would have SB to worry about so may have folded his A rag there anyway.

For about 2-3 weeks the flush draws did not get there and I lost my state tournament on the weekend with a pair straight flush draw combo vs an overpair, then I make 3 last night, 2 of them in huge pots 1 of which I stacked a bloke who made a straight, had over 800k on the second break (in the scheme of things 800k is not much in this game as it was a deepstack bingofest)

Then I got screwed over by the nit limpers limping in every ******* hand once the blinds went up, lost one flip with tens vs KQ and it all went downhill with the marginal hands, I just did not have a spot to squeeze as these limpers had very similar hands to what I had, nothing AQ or better, mainly those middling aces/KT/small pockets kind of hands. Got it in with a suited king vs JT in the end, big stack at the table pushed everyone out so I thought **** it here's protection, hit two pair, bloke hits a straight in the process...

Sounds like a sore loser end of day, I copped a horrendous beat Sunday night, hit an ace on a connected board, but had backdoors also so ripped it, got called by a pair of 3s, no where near the flop of AQJ, he immediately hits a set on the turn to draw me dead, I shook my head and got up, definitely will be looking to get my chips back off this maniac if he plays again.



Finally won a few flips on Friday night though at the crunch at risk, only lost when I was ahead but wasn't at risk, ended up chopping, still a pretty annoying season though, that would've been the first night for the season where most things went my way (probably 2 hands overall didn't), I came 3rd in a bigger buy in game in November and got my biggest live cash in the process, but I only really came 3rd because I pretty much folded to the money and only ripped it with tens once to pick up the blinds as the maniac who won was running hot and even though I had position on him he was playing the any two game and hitting most hands, so yeah, played it far too safe that one.

Tide seems to be turning and my bankroll is looking better - still behind but not as drastic as before

Playing a 70k freeze out and after winning last Sunday I turned up not expecting much but hoping for the best.

Spent the day hitting every K high flush I wanted and beating a KJ flush with the nut A6 and getting paid off

I hit most and made final table with 300k - then went card dead . So much so I pushed with QTs and got through

Blinds are 20/40k and I am UTG2 - UTG1 puts out the minimum and I check my cards and see AA - I wonder how to play this and look at the pot which is now 100k and figure just shove my 250k and be done with it

2 callers with UTG1 having AQo and another KJo - Aces hold and I have over 600k and we have 5 left. We lose 2 and its final 3 and blinds are 30/60k

I am BB with 4Th and UTG calls the 60 and SB puts their last 85k in - I dont even blink and put the last 25k in and we see a flop 3 way

A 4 on the flop is good enough to scoop 255k v AQ and KJ and its heads up - giggity

A bit of back and forth and I am in the BB with T3o and its a flop at 40/80k - dream flop of 339 with 2 clubs . I check and they bet 100k I call. Turn is nada and I check again and they shove.

Really only the club draw that concerns me and I snap it and they indeed have the club draw - and with a club on the river my brain scrambles - until its pointed out its the 10 of clubs and I house it

We have a bit more back and forth at 50/100k they are pushing chips in on my BB and I keep folding 73 and 32 until the third time I have 7T and figure **** it and call - they turn over 56o and a 7 on the flop is enough and its my 3rd win in a row

3 x $450 has been a good lead up to Xmas

Lets see if I can go 4 in a row

Same old shit on Thursdays occurring

This joint is on limited time before it's permanently binned

Absolutely no problems with gameplay before the 2nd break, after the 2nd break, cannot find a hand to either double up or knock someone out with, same old shit as last year just getting really frustrating never getting the rub of the green in this particular game. Like I don't play it every week, but I'll play it around 12-15 times a year over the last 2 years, last cashed in it in September 2023.


Edit, it's been 13 games since I last cashed in it, just really over it... I cash at about a 20% ratio in my games, 2 more weeks it has before it's done.

Played quite well aggressive at the right times (and got lucky with hitting cards)

Button looks at their cards and turns around and looks at clock and blinds and pushes 120k out

Hmm I'm not sure they are strong - SB folds I lift my cards to see A6 and shove - they tank and reluctantly call and turn over A3

And yes the 3 out first with 24 giving me some blind hope but no

Tuesday similar blinds 30/60k but this time I am on the button with J9h and with my 240k I shove - SB folds and BB mutters and calls with A7

Starting to hold true this for me

Got the win in a 75k freezeout after not playing this particular game for over 3 months, I came into this game with a different somewhat carefree game plan due to previous poor results and it worked.

Did get a huge stroke of luck where I was all in with 6s UTG before the 2nd break at risk to a raggy J3 suited, but I had 2 other short stacks covered and somehow I dodged to get a crucial double up (basically a triple up with the amount of chips in play)

Then I proceeded to lose a flip not at risk and got dwindled down to 75k, then I got moved tables and got a double up with 86os calling a KT all in from my big blind then I took the rest of his chips the next hand, then an orbit or 2 later I tried a steal on a short stacks BB with A7, he woke up with kings and took 120k off me (my flush draw bricked), leaving me with just 40k, next hand I got AT, couple of limps so I limp the 30k, over 120k preflop here, I hit the ace, but the nitty old bird lead out, I'm thinking shit she might have a better ace here, but I can't fold, luckily enough she had A9 and I scooped 150k or something, few hands later me and the old bird are all in again and she's got it this time, AKdd vs AQss, I runner runner the spades to get a huge suckout and left her crippled and I didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary after that, she did double through me a couple hands later, I hit a wheel with AK but she was blinded out and had to go with 53 and hit a book on the river to get a little bit of it back.

So we're well into final 2 tables now I got blinded down a bit and blinds are 30-60k now, bloke in the SB tries to pull one on me with king high when I was in the BB sitting with 3 queens, thank you very much for that donation, then I stacked him the next orbit with AQ (AQ easily the most reliable hand of the night for me), so that got us to final table and I was sitting with about 750k, maybe 4th or so for chips, the chip leader misread his hand badly against the bloke who was about 3rd for chips and I finished him off a few hands later with AQ and he bubbled for the money, but most importantly that KO gave me the chip lead which I didn't surrender until we were heads up, heads up I went from 2.7m to about 1.8m before I ripped it with top pair, got called by effectively the same hand, so we chopped, then a few hands later my QJ held against his K2 (pair of 2s and a flush draw, I hit my queen then ripped it on the flop), then I got the rest of his chips with A5os vs K7cc had to fade a Q66 2 club flop, but 4 and 2 of spades runout sealed me the win.

Sometimes slow playing will get ya... If he raised pre flop I would of instant folded.

Much needed win.. last win was November 2023? I think? In between I've had a few 2nds and 3rds and what not... And have been slightly frustrated.

It did help going to the final table with a massive stack and then the other players wouldn't even bet against me. I got quite a few walks and whenever I raised they would pretty much fold and half the time I didn't even have much of a hand.
