Last night blinds 1/2k BB with AQh utg1 raises to 5k utg2 goes to 11k banana shoves 19k

I figure with 3 raise actions I'm behind - stacks are fairly similar so no reason to get into battle and I fold

Utg1 calls the 19k utg2 jams 65k and I put them on AK at worst and am happy with my fold. Utg1 folds reluctantly

Utg2 turns over AKc

How much do you need to put in ?

Blinds are 3/6k and I am in the SB and it folds around to me with AA - the previous few raises have been 13k which some get called and some get folded to

So I make it 18k ie 3x BB - who has hit everything even a 4 card flush with AK v KK - decides to call - ok

Flop is 378 and I put out 25k and they call. Ok

Turn is the K and I think **** it and jam my last 70k - they call and turn over K7 - and hit another K to boaty mcboat face up

And I am reading BF in the sports bar

Need to work on my heads up game... The last year I have 1 win (dont play alot.. only play Wednesday nights and not all the time) but have about six 2nds during that time (including 2nd again tonight)

My record heads up all up is something like 7 wins and about 20+ (ish) 2nds

Frustrating when I know when I get to heads up.. It's already in the back of my head.

I was the same and it took a major shift in thinking

I used to be passive and wait for the good cards and I got swamped when they would shove or raise - I realised waiting for the best cards is a sure fire disaster.

Sure there were times when I did have ''premium cards '' and won with them but also times when I felt that they were shoving a very very wide range

I think I mentioned the 7T v 76 hand which I won with when I figured they were shoving to what their perception of me was .

Start taking a different line and use your perceived tight profile to advantage

i'm probably useless here, that FT alone was longer than most of those tourneys!

i usually play 1 card poker in those situations, high cards are very premium, suited connectors too

probably awful advice, but its what has worked for me previously

Yeah I do need to loosen up a bit...

BB with 66 blinds are 5/1/1k it limps to me and I raise to 3k

3 callers

Flop is K 29c and I put out 5k UTG2 calls the other 2 fold

Turn is 6c and I check UTG2 puts out 10k and I jam my 50k putting him on a draw or a weak flush which the jam should get him off

He calls with the 78c so even if he puts me on the bigger flush the straight flush draw keeps him going plus his 200k chips

No paired board and Im already home and back Thursday for the Bounty

3 hands later I am BB with j7 and utg2 is the only caller

Flop is 337 I check they bet 5k I call

Turn is J and I check again. They bet 13k and I jam 90k

They call with a flush draw


And I am across the room typing this

Hadn't even shaken Smoooothy by the hand

Cockroached to 6th then hit a vein of cards and run it up to 690k and have JJ utg BB 30/60k

I raise to 300k BB jams 595k I call and see AQ

Q on the turn and I'm crippled

Blind shove BB and finish 4th

Very disappointed but happy when I was expecting 9th

Frustrating when that happens especially as you didnt have the chips to isolate

I got caught towards the end - at this venue my last 3 finishes ( yes even yesterday) were 10th

Had 145k from 175k and blinded and look down at KJo middle position - UTG puts their last 45k in - I jam to isolate and SB jams also 45k

Flop came 9 crap crap (2 clubs)

After having a think for little while.. the other guy is quite loose aggressive (not an idiot but)

I decided to make the call worried he had the flush (I didn't have a club) but he had pocket J's and no club... River was a brick.. and had a healthy stack after that.

Blinds are 15/30k and I am BB - ie 135k behind - I have JTo

UTG bets 30k UTG2 puts in a stack of purples ie 100k - SB folds I jam the last of my chips

I had a moment to think before SB acted and the raise by 2 was interesting as they are fairly tight so definitely a Jack - ok and they limped so maybe my Ten outkicks them or we are close

UTG1 gets out of the way and UTG2 calls and turns over AJ - wtf - I mean yeah that makes sense apart from the limp . Their standard play with an A is to raise - ' Im never rasing without an A ' has been said a few times by them - which is why I dismissed the higher card coming into play

Either way I was never folding so its all grumbling

9 on the turn and suddenly the straight 8 comes into play as well as the Ten to boat me - but no its another 9 and I finish outside the cash - 400k in chips go begging

But here we go.. me MP look down KK sweet... 2 flat calls before me... I raised the normal 2.5bb

SB calls BB calls and only 1 of the guys that flated called.

After a bad weekend - mostly of my own poor play - busted out of a 4k home game just in time - if we drove quickly - to make late rego in the last game of the day

Calling with good cards only to be chased down seemed to continue from the rest of the weekend and at 6/12k final 2 tables with 24k left and looking for 2 cards to play

JQo - ok shove - and because of the blinds I had 3 callers for just on 100k in my hand (SB folded)

Flop is 3 clubs - ( thinks I have 2 black cards so 1 has to be a club ) club on turn and club on river and my Jc plays

Orbit later AKo with a small raise from a very very tight player - he has 62k and I just have him with 78k - I shove and he tanks but I figured even he would see the folly of folding after he put in half his stack - so he calls and turns over A9

Its a race until the river 9 - uggh - oh wait its the 4th diamond and I have the Ad - FINAL TABLE

Draw the BB card ffs with 130k blinds 10/20 - 99 - ok here we go player middle position raises to 60k and I jam for 130k - he eventually calls with AJ

Runs out clean for me and I have 270k - breathe - 4 hands later its KK - giggity - I 4x and get jammed on by AQ and call for my stack

Runs clean and leaves them with 15k - I have over 500k

And the hands continue - QQ , AK , A7 ( against TT and spike an A ) AK again

Finish in the money and still didnt break even but it did restore my faith in the poker gods
