Not that I would ever fold there, but worth thinking about what possible hands villain could shove with. We know he doesn't have an A and would expect us to call if we had an A. So that should eliminate anything but a straight flush or quad 10s.

Or KK, JQ or a bluff...
All of those are beaten by a lone A, which villain would have to be worried about since he doesn't have one and we got all the way to river on an AAK flop.

JQ is a bluff too. No one is jamming a straight for value on a double-paired flush board.

He could be repping AK and hoping we'll fold Ax, but that's really thin and would have to know our game very well to think we'd fold Ax.

You got to think about how the hand unfolded. JQ and other hands would be there on the river (saying that without knowing the action). And yes, they would be semi-bluff hands.

Why would we fold Ax with a pair of 10s on the board?

We wouldn't fold Ax - that's the point.
So villain has to either:
a) be betting a worse hand because he's very confident we don't have Ax; or
b) have better than Ax

How could he be confident enough for a)? Although our river check does confuse things.

My first three sessions of the year at Crown all resulted in a -1 buy in outcome and generally playing pretty poorly. Took a month off to try reset and it seems to have worked, my two sessions this weekend have been +3.2 buy ins and +1.6 buy ins from 7.5 hours of poker. More importantly I've played pretty damn well overall and found a bit of a rhythm again.

Hit a nice little Bad Beat Jackpot last night;

Was playing a bit higher too, but it hit on these stakes, still can't complain!
Quads seems a low qualifying hand for 5-card Omaha. How often does it go off?

Sigh

Having a bad night and not even caring

Blinds 2/4k my stack is 15k and I am BB ie 11k now behind me and I have 76o - ugh please limp

Utg folds Utg2 (stack 11k) calls folds Utg2 to SB (40k) who calls I check.

3 runners and here we go

Flop is 458. Flopped the straight. Yeowww.

Utg2 checks SB pushes 6k and I don't care but I figured it was a pressure bet.

I shove my last 11k in Utg2 calls his last 7k and SB calls also

Utg2 - JJ ??? Why not pre-flop
SB -4,8 -two pair
BB -76- straight.

Turn is a J

River is a 4 to get boat over boat and oh that straight that was ahead was heading to the carpark

When you walk away from the pot and live to survive

Went to the casino last night after the footy game and played 2/2 table NLH

Had 1 big all in move which netted me a good stack and started to think about heading home when I looked at 88s

Raised to 10 - 4 callers and then a re-raise to $27 - I call as does 1 other - 3 in pot

Flop is 245 with 2 hearts. I check , middle (very very loose) player bets 10 and original re-raiser bumps it to $30. I figure its a big overpair , A3 at worst but wondered why the re-raise with that combo.

I folded - mostly because I was in the go home mood - but also felt the re-raiser was very strong.

Turn card is an 8 and I kick myself - loose guy bets $75 gets called

River is a J and loose guy shoves and in my head I am thinking ' I woulda snap called you'

Original re-raiser calls him and turns over 67hearts for the turned straight to his rubbish - and I go home thinking phew

And yeah after a footy game across the river the poker tables at the casinos have some nice pickings for the good players or luckboxes like me who doubled up - so good night all in all

I would never have put them on 67 after a preflop 3-bet. I'd have folded when you did but would 100% go broke if I'd stuck around.

Glad to hear the post football action is still good. I'd planned to hit the tables last night but had a shocking week at work and was just exhausted by yesterday.

Oh and my eventing was ruined by getting 4 pocket pairs all day - over 2 buy ins and the best of them being 9s which I shoved to pick up the Blinds

My utg 5s got all the way around to BB who called

with AA

But I did ok in the bounty event making my weekend at last budget neutral

Has anyone visited The Star in Sydney recently? Their website is talking all about tournaments - I'm trying to make sure they have sit and go cash games before going out of my way tomorrow night.

Cash games are a casino's bread and butter. I've never seen a casino do only tournaments; even during a big event/series they'll save tables and dealers for cash games.

I ended up visiting Star last night. When I last visited probably 8 years ago it was like playing with your mates - cash games, player vs player, no limit. The only difference was the casino taking a rake.

Now it's essentially pot limit vs the dealer. And aside from the fact they don't always pay out your blind bet, I'm not sure how the casino makes money, cos it's a 50/50 bet that's paying back almost 1:1, while I obviously have the advantage of knowing what my cards are and whether I want to invest in them. (And if you play the bonus, which pays out on particular pocket hands - I strongly suspect that of all the table games in the casino it has the best return. I walked in with $600 and walked out with $1235 after deciding at 3am that being dealt a 2/8 off suit was my sign to go home. Pretty much paid for the stay in Sydney, so that was good. All that said, while myself and another guy on the table cleaned up, I saw a man and a woman both lose over $2k each in the space of about 10 minutes, so obviously its very possible to lose, and to lose very quickly.)

Yeah, that’s not real poker just a table game based on poker. They have it in most casinos but it's separate to the poker room.

Never been to Star but it would surprise me if they didn't have real poker cash games if they're hosting tournaments. For one thing, what do those dealers do when they don't have tournaments?
