1)all you need to do to get reported is touch a player there's no more hitting or fight or anything like that all you gotta do is touch a player
2)if your name is tony modra the new holding rule don't apply for you you will be held back pushed to the ground and flattened and you wont get a thing
3)holding the ball is gone hold the ball as long as you like and the umps do nothing

i know melbourne is a good team and i aint saying freo woulda won if the umps hadda done a good job but i know the final score woulda been bout a 2 goal difference
i was at the gameand the umpiring could not have been worse

The umpires had NOTHING to do with it. Melbourne were FAR superior through the midfield. They just didn't stop running. And this is coming from a Melbourne hater!

Bollux, I'm no Freo lover but the maggots were a disgrace. They are blatant biased cheats who have no idea about consistency

But the Dees were without doubt superior. Swartz and neitz looked good and a new guy, Beams looked good too, White looked the star he is and Farmer entertained in fits.Also the Dees looked well disciplined and solid which is a plus to Daniher.
Freo looked good up front with Modra and Schell but their defence looks woeful. Was that really Metropolis playing, gee if he plays like that the Eagles traded well, and what about Ding~Dong Bell, he did nothin.

But it is sickening to see games spoilt by the Gieschen Guessmen.

ps. dark blue and red against dark purple and red. When is there going to be some sense introduced into clubs plaing atlternative colours if there is a clash!

I wasnt too upset, our mid field showed its a class act.Carr impressed me and we unearthed another forward in Schell.We broke down across half forward due missing our number one forward in waterhouse.But Pavlich did well.

So i wouldnt gloat,you put in a poor performance and if we had if kicked straight and a few umpiring decisions gone our way, you might have not won by so much.

Melbourne were far better in clearing the ball more quickly and directly (especially from point kickouts) at the end of the day the more experienced side won, just as the Kangaroos beat the Eagles the night before. Was anyone expecting any other result?

Btw, I agree 100% with you Frodo, there was a colour clash and at times was hard to pick up the play in the packs.

Melbourne played top footy however Fremantle are still building so Dees fans, don't get your hopes up too high.

our midfield was lacking not 1 but 4 of its best: woewodin, yze, junior and macca and we still managed to win!
also we didn't have ingo (our best FB) and johno and powelly who we all know can stick some nice goals.
so basically your team: can't aim, can't defend, can't let go of the fact that they DONT have jeff white anymore and basically can't play so over all YOU CAN'T WIN!

melbourne played good footy on the night and that is what counts
the umpiring was bad 1 player was reported for nothing and i'd love to see what the tribunal says bout this one
the umps may have been trained but they are still making bad mistakes and when it comes to the outcome teams are having a close loss or victory taken away
sabre ac let the jeff white thing go he is gone we don't care about him any more we have clem michael justin longmuir and simon eastaugh also daniel bandy and they are all great in the ruck
metro could have played a bit better though and used some of his aggression in the tackling
freo's defense was actually pretty poor last night but it is good to see parker is still one of the best in the league

just to add one more thing does anyone no who it was that caught jeff farmer in the best tackle we have ever seen ?
we missed who it was but who ever it was man was it sweet to see a beautiful play unfortunatly the holding the ball rule wasn't used when farmer held the ball

How many of you actually saw the game? Apart from the first quarter, it was pretty even all night. Melbourne got the benefit of about 5 highly dubious free kicks in front of goal in the 2nd half which made a pretty big difference, especially seeing as though those rules didn't apply to Modra. Certainly no team dominated the game.

In reality, the Ansett Cup isn't really about winning, although it would be nice. Its about trialling new players, new strategies and looking at how different players cope under different conditions, like playing Farmer in the midfield (who had a pretty good game, he just got caught a few too many times, but that's expected).
While you'd prefer to win than lose, the coaches are looking for a lot more than that. As a Dockers fan, I walked away fairly happy with the teams performance.

yeah sabre dear in 10 years when your club still hadn't made it to the top eight melbourne would have won at least one flag. You have no right saying anything about Melbourne when it comes to bad playing seeing as you go for freo who can't even come up with a proper looking jumper!

PieGirl#2 as a Collingwood supporter i am not surprised that thats all you can come up with, good luck after round 5... we all know its all one way from there and thats downhill.
on the other hand you can be freo and not even experience the rush of going up!
