My view of the game: Same old Carlton. Win one week, get thrashed the next. Looks like our chances are good against Fremantle... Geelong are playing fantastic footy at the moment, beating some very good teams along the way which is no surprise the result was so lop-sided. They should've won by more, we were lucky Graham was having a poor day up forward, showing how dominant they actually were. Their defense again and the inability for Carlton to stop small forwards was the difference between a close game and a thumping.
With the Scarlett v Fevola match, I actually thought it was even. They beat each other for the ball a similar number of times, whith Fevola kicking 3.2 on the best FB in the business with only one leg. Fev was very lucky - I winced when he fell the way he did in that marking contest where his leg seemed to be destined to be ripped off. Thank god he didn't do a knee - but he was limping throughout the whole match. Hamstring problems or just a corky? Still, what would people be saying if he hadn't of missed and kciked 5? Fevola wins? But yet again, Geelong kicking straight and it's the St. Kilda nightmare all over again.
Still, 3.2 and 6 marks with limited opportunity against the best defense in the game (playing on the in-form FB of the comp) was not a bad effort, considering he was under a cloud the entire time. The highlights for me was Lappin (AA half back flank for sure), Fevola booting a nice goal when we had a sniff after the horrific angle his leg had been though and Waite (starting to get it together).
Overall, Geelong are a top 5 team and Carlton are of the middle road at best. This inconsistencey proves that we're not good enough to make the 8.
