Head-butting, biting, chicken winging, eye gouging, those things have no leeway with the AFL anymore imo.

The worst thing about this is Whately will already be preparing his script for 360 to try and stamp his influence. Unbareable viewing.

ZT tried to headbutt him first and Baz is a bit of a hot head so did it back. ZT just failed to make good contact. Both should get two weeks, nothing more. Swinging elbows to the head are worse and do more damage.

My guess is he would have been looking at a bigger suspension but on the slow-mo Tuohy pretty clearly moves his head towards Smith at the same time (not as much as Smith), which the Bulldogs will argue and have it reduced down to 1 or 2 weeks. Maybe a fine for Tuohy for the melee.

It's not that he's soft, as such. It's just that he chose to withdraw from a push and shove that he was a key instigator in, by pretending Bailey Smith had just clobbered him in the face with an anvil.

It looked very poor.

The bruise was on his forehead, so it's like a legit headbutt that spreads your nose across your face.

I think he assumed Smith would back down, but he didn't. And Tuohey is old enough and smart enough to know that there is nothing to be gained from pummeling a timid little kid - so he wanted out.

He just chose a really poor way to do it.

Tuohy's got a fair bit of history with the "pretend" headbutt, don't think he dived as much as he was just surprised his opponent stood up and responded in kind.

Send 'em both off for a week or two, bad look for the game.
