MRP / Trib. Bailey Smith Headbutt

I thought 3 weeks would have been appropriate and 2 is low. Smith should count his lucky stars.

Weightman's cannonball of SDK's legs was deliberate and designed to injure. The kid was lucky not to cop a season ending injury. Looks like the MRP did not even give it a squizz. For me the action was worse than a headbutt and a penalty of 6 weeks+ was called for. Had SDK broken a leg or done an ACL an 8 weeks + would have been warranted.

Weightman is probably leading the pack for 2022 "Most punchable" player.

It was a dumb act, but to call it designed to injure is laughable. He wanted the football and ignored his duty of care to the other player. Even if they cited it, it would still be classified as Careless, Body, Medium impact, and a fine at worst.

He was nowhere near the ball though.

I actually think he was playing for a Free Kick.

WESTERN Bulldogs star Bailey Smith admits his emotions got the better of him after accepting a two-match ban for headbutting Zach Tuohy.

"I'm disappointed to be missing the next two matches, and regret that I won't be able to help my teammates on the field during that period," he said.

"I understand what happened was outside of what's expected of AFL players. Unfortunately, I let my emotions get the better of me, which is out of character for me.

"I am determined to come back in a couple of weeks to continue giving 100 per cent for my teammates and the club."

Why isnt Tooee getting reported?
He should be. Initiatted contact just as much as Smith.
Played victim (soft **** media lap it up) = Smith out for 2 weeks.
Disgusting! Both should pay same/equal penalty

He got a fine. Because the AFL goes on outcomes. He went to headbutt and missed, so he gets a fine. Smith went to headbutt and succeeded, so he gets 2 weeks.

Touhy should have got a week, not a fine.
