Really? ‘Future proof’ is such a myopic little expression that people throw around, but the future is far from certain. What the poster is actually saying is the Bulldogs currently have a good midfield and this is far more conducive to development, but that isn’t a concrete thing.

Walsh played well in a paper thin midfield last year, but for whatever reason Teague is using him in a flanker and preferencing other mids in the middle this season. He will get more opportunities soon.

Walsh is safe bet to play a lot of games and get a lot of footy. If he can clean up his kicking he'll be a freak. Smith isn't as much of a sure thing, but has a bigger upside because of the way he runs with the ball. When he streams out of a clearance with the ball it reminds me of a pre injury Cooney
