From what I have seen from Smith thus far, he will go down as one of the best ever. Kid is already a star, cops attention others don't, assumes his role alongside bonafide stars, and already performs up to their level. I'm sure Walsh will be a good player in his own right. He was a safe selection, kid is already a very serviceable player. But Smith, geez. Smith is special. Probably my fav player at present.

At the moment Smith looks the good, but wouldn't write Walsh off. Just needs to get those rushed around the corner kicks out of his habits....

However Smith looks a bit floggish, not sure if its just the hair or what.

Tonight's game was hubris for all those cocky Dogs fans talking smack about Walsh all week (btw Smith is a gun, about the only bloke out there who could hold their head tonight for the Dogs)

Relax bud. I’m sure Smith will work on it. I’ve just never seen Walsh have such a massive fade out.

FWIW he took the piss for about 12 minutes.
8 touches in the last while getting tagged to finish with the 2nd most touches on the ground and finish with 26, 1 goal and 6 tackles.

Its going to be remembered as the same as drafting Luke Ball > Judd.

He’s a massive flog. Thank f**k we finally have one. We are a bunch of pussys.

We need a flog in our team we’re soft as butter.
Which is weird because you have more than a few who would be known as harder types. Libba, Wallis etc once upon a time. Your namesake in Bont gets in there and dirty enough too. Not sure about playing the likes of McLean, Schache and co though.

Smith is amazing, I don't think anyone can deny that. Dogs best player tonight.

I love Walsh, but on current form Smith is probably ahead of him (I think people forget how good Walsh was last year). However, that does not take away from how good Walsh is and will be as a player.

Had 19 at half time. It was a concerning fade out. Think the pressure of the Blues midfield just got to him even though Bont, Macrae, Hunter and Libba do most of the heavy lifting.

He’ll work on it and should end up nutting out a solid career.

Just read the comments in this thread from opposition supporters, cocko. Like I said, not even Walsh’s mum would pick him over Baz. And you know it.
Happy to get a flogging tonight knowing we have this kid for the next 10+ years and adding Ugle-Hagan to our list at the end of the year.

Until he was forced to come out of the shadows.

And then he was awful.

Pathetic even.
It's hard to tell if you are actually as nuff as you consistently come across or you just like to waste your time trolling.

AFL.com.au getting in on the debate tonight:

7. The Bulldogs' No.7 pick could be the new No.1
It could just prove that Bailey Smith is the best of an incredibly talented crop from the 2018 NAB AFL Draft class. The Western Bulldogs midfielder, who finished fourth behind Sam Walsh, Connor Rozee and Sydney Stack in last year's NAB AFL Rising Star award, has been the pick of the bunch among that collection of young stars this year and was arguably the best player on the field on Sunday evening. Despite the Bulldogs being bullied out of the middle in the early stages against the Blues, Smith towered above his more experienced teammates like Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Macrae and Lachie Hunter in another stellar performance. His tough nature at stoppages, and his class on the outside, was on full display as the teenager finished with 26 disposals, four clearances and a goal. The No.7 draft pick could well be the No.1 player from that cohort.

The fact that he was tagged in the second half as a 19 year old says more about his ability than anything. Walsh spent the entire first half butchering the ball until he cleaned it up in the second. Apart from some Carlton supporters looking through rose-coloured glasses it's pretty clear who is better out of the two.

Hopefully Ugle-Hagan can handle a bit of attention. A few more 4 quarter performers would put the Dogs in good stead. You can’t carry blokes who will rock up for a half then check out.

Well you’re off a fair with with those stats there. Smith had 19 disposals in the first half. Finished on 26. Feel free to work out how many touches he had in the second half.
