Counselling
He has substance, mental health and aggression issues
He needs it addressed before he implodes

No signs of any Dog supporters chiming in yet . . . . guess his signing has been a resounding success after he was supposedly going to be a nightmare to deal with for the club

And if any Dogs supporters did chime in, you'd be having a go. He's not the Dog's problem, so relief or indifference is what's mainly felt. On a serious note though, it's hard to reconcile the polite young man that was interviewed at the start of his career to now.

Media were INVITED to come down, Smith walks past her, throws out some verbal abuse, walks past again then throws out some more. Not the first time he's done it either apparently. I think it's entirely fair to tell him he won't be part of the finals campaign if that's how he's gonna treat the public that were invited to come down and do their jobs.

Agreed and that isn't breaking news. The club, league and Bailey himself should be working on this where possible. The scrutiny and pressure of public interactions he finds intrusive or aggressive (crowd, media) clearly get to him but these are parts of the job, ones that are amplified with superstar status. I apply empathy here as I have to players from all clubs who have not appeared to enjoy elements of the AFL public spotlight. It doesn't excuse behaviour but we need a framework to help those who are struggling. At the moment we get stories like this leaked, opposition supporters trolling and no doubt a bunch of fresh comments coming at Smith over the fence to egg him on even more. It is an incredibly toxic culture that is the opposite to rehabilitation and is closer to poking the bear. I'm not saying that's what this woman was doing, but the public response certainly will.

Nope, he needs to handle himself better in these situations. In America this stuff is commonplace but in Australia we at least pretend to have a code of ethics in terms of public figures and media interactions.

The responses by some "neutrals" however are as predictably over the top - and dare I say they seem to be enjoying it - those posts deserve to be mocked at the same time. These people are part of the problem, not the solution.

Likely a drug shipment or notification to hide dead buries before a police search. I imagine something like this runs deep. And they don't call it the Geelong Mafia for nothing. The strings of AFL house are pulled by Hocking and co, much like Costa before him and the bikie gangs that Bomber Thompson used to head. Sure they could get away with Stengle's heroin overdose and Atkins deliberately running over those school children while high on cocaine, but the net is closing in on some of the latest crimes.

Realistically - and don’t get me wrong I have a - broadly speaking - ‘dislike’ of this sort of person in general - he’s just a normal 23 year old with good looks that earns more money than other people and thinks he’s the shit as a consequence. You can see a dozen of them in any pub on a Saturday night. Hopefully a few years of maturity and some older people telling him to knock it off get that sorted out.

I doubt being with a high profile Instagram influencer is going to help much

He’s literally said that Smith is showing that he’s not handling some of the most basic parts of the job which includes the spotlight. He’s having a go at fans, not the photographer

Nope.
Where did I say it's on here?
Show me one instance where I blamed the woman. I said Smith wasn't handling the normal scrutiny expected of a superstar sports player.
I also said the toxic trolling that follows Smith around after any "incident" are designed to push his buttons, not help him. And there is always a layer of club related trolling that shows people aren't actually genuine with their "I'm worried about the victim" routine.

I'm not seeing much in the way of defence. I'm seeing a fairly universal acknowledgement here and on our board that Smith is a) not coping well with elements of the job and b) needs to do better. That can be true while also responding to posters like yourself saying "LOL I fort the Doggies were what broke ol mate Smith!!!!" with the manner they deserve.

I haven't once justified his actions. They are disappointing, and the framework we have to rehabilitate or help all parties in these situations is deficient. Our "best" solutions are public hangings and troll comments on social media or over the fence - let's see if we can get Smith to stick his finger up again etc. You better believe that's part of the problem. He still has to do better though because he is going to be facing this for the rest of his career. It's part of the job. I guess I should try to pretend I'm saying he did nothing wrong now, to suit your narrative though.
