and what will u be saying when we get touched up by essendon then flogged by collingwood, beat freo at home, then lose to richmond and the dogs taking us into round 15 at 4-1-10 will you still be all smiles then , because at current only a massive home ground advantage gives us a hope of beating freo.. and even still under bailey im not confident

Believe me I am far from all smiles but....

Essendon's momentum is slowing, Collingwood have shown some weaknesses, Richmond lost to Port (a side who has been absolutely woeful all season) and Freo got thumped by the Saints on their own turf... when we put up a relatively good fight on the SAINTS home turf....

The Bulldogs are traveling worse than us atm, especially following a 123 point thumping over in the west.

4-1-10 is no where near acceptable
6-1-8 is would be acceptable IMO, and then we get Jamar back, Bail back, Tapscott back, Bartram back and Garland back. Ready for a run home by round 17 hopefully.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but with Trengove and Scully to come back in as well as some younger talents... it's not impossible

It isn't impossible TPM but very hard to see happening right now.

Our form is abysmal, we have returned to the shit of 08/09 with our players being unable to even perform basic skills.

I would have rather been flogged by 90 points on Friday night and at least tried to win the game rather than the shit that Bailey had them doing. Defensive gameplans are ONLY accepted by the supporter base/club/media if you get results. We are NOT going to get results right now with a defensive gameplan.

I agree with the sentiments that Bailey seems to be too nice. The players just don't seem to be that interested or want it that badly sometimes, and that is the worst thing you can see on a football field. Richmond for years have wanted it but have just been too rubbish to do anything, now (Despite last nights loss) they are steadily improving and still look like they want it more than anything.

The playing group obviously has motivation issues, and whilst that isn't all Baileys fault some blame definitely lies with him and the rest of the coaching staff. This has clearly been an issue since last year, when we'd go from smashing an undefeated Brisbane to getting done by North. Did the same thing this year, crush Adelaide then a 70 point turnaround against North. If we played like we did against Adelaide every week (Adelaide were abysmal but we dominated the game from start to finish) we probably would have only lost to Hawthorn and Carlton.

I'm not a huge fan of the mob mentality when it comes to sacking a coach but right now I think he isn't the man for the job, and the ONLY thing that will convince me otherwise is a consistent run of 4-5 games that we don't necessarily win but we have a red hot go each game.

wow logger, pointless contribution. and so long too. I made my comment because that's my take on it. Its ******* breaking my heart to see my club in this state. I'm sure it is all of us. a hawthorn bigfooty member had a great post on our set up and game plan and I've commented on it before. we just won't beat teams with this style of play. I feel that our boys know this, but they're under instructions from coaching staff to play in this manner! just wanna see em having a fair dinkum crack and watts taking screamers and booting a bag!

an experienced coach also brings with them the hope of getting a flag. (not that others do not) BUT they know how to get there, and get over the line.

What will people think if we win one of ess/coll and perform admirably in the other?

What will people thinking when we beat Richmond, Freo and maybe the Doggies??

Entering round 15 at 7-1-7?

Would that be acceptable? Or will we still be calling for Bailey's head?

The first 5 games of the year have convinced me Bailey isn't the right man for the job, nothing is going to change my mind, the Adelaide game didn't and the rest of the season won't, when I look back to the 2008 season, 3 wins 19 losses and a % of 67 I think, was probably the worst season of any club since Fitzroys last, the alarm bells should of been going off then, there is no way we would of been that bad if Daniher was still coaching, we should of said that we made a mistake and started fresh with a new coach in 2009.

When was the last time we had a coach with previous AFL head coaching experience? 30 years ago? How has that turned out?

No more **** ups with left field ****ing 'mavericks'... if they appoint an untried coach I will not renew my memberships... simple.

Northey didn't go badly with one season of previous VFL experience. Certainly better than the moderately more famous and successful bloke who he replaced

Indeed. Although I don't think you should then go with untried coaches for the next 20 seasons ;)

Any smart administration right now would be talking to both malthouse and roosy's management about a possible coaching role next year. Saying that melbourne's track record regarding anything to do with football since 1964 has been poor...
