Was on Ballarat news tonight that Lakers have signed a new 200cm ruckman from Blackburn (I think) in the EFL. Trumanella?? or something like that. Won a B&F at Blackburn & played rep footy for the league. Know nothing about EFL but assume the standard would be pretty good.

Correct - Luke's team needed a ruckman and Carriss was happy to help out. A few of the Sunba boys are going up this weekend to watch - weather permitting!
I know of a ruckman currently with an RDFL club who was offered that gig about 5 weeks before xmas but declined it.

and plenty in the balfl that did put him in the shade also. he went missing in the finals too, when sunba needed him the most. then again that was probably the short people fault for hanging onto one of those b grade footballers.

Bit tough on Patty there. He has battled some pretty serious injuries over the years yet year after year he backs up gives his best and plays ultimate team footy whether in ruck or pushing fwd. I watched one final and thought he was pretty serviceable. End of the day if Pat Cariss was on the market, every club in the BalFL would recruit him if they could.

Where's that Bacchus Marsh guy gone? I want to hear what is happening over the other side of the bridge.
How goods this Scott McAllester from Airport West EDFL div 2, whos heading to Darley? They need someone to replace Stephenson. If Darley get their best 21 on the park this year they could be a force. Have Darley lost anyone?

Still working on that list? I can think of 2 you might think is better. Waters is finally in 2011 testing himself at a higher level. Lets see him play 1 year - if he is as good then he will poll well in the Michelson Medal and maybe get a run in the interleague team. He has a lot of potential.
Fishedon played at Sunbury and is a super tap ruckman but his kicking is poor and he cannot go foward (like Carriss) and kick goals. End of the day in Sunba's 2004 Grand Final win he had 1 kick for the day and kicked it out of bounds on the full.
Anyone else? End of the day many good RDFL players have come to play in the BalFL and failed. You need to have more than 1 trick to compete at a higher level. You can no longer run over the top of players, if you are slow you get exposed, if you are not a great mark and kick you won't kick the goals you do in the RDFL.
A great example of the difference in the 2 comps is Lee James. Kicks 100 in the RDFL and is a superstar. Played at Sunba and kicked 47 goals. 28 going against the bottom 3 teams. BalFL is twice as good as the RDFL in case you were wondering.
