Like most clubs...nothing concrete at this stage.

Darley recruiting from the central highlands now. surely not. I hope he plays for the jumper unlike some of your past players and even one or two current ones!!

BFL: Melton Bloods happy with Haby

BALLARAT Football League clubs beware: the Bloods are back, and setting their sights on September.


Melton has emerged as this season's potential bolter in the MECU BFL after signing an ex-VFL midfielder, a two-time Western Region Football League club best and fairest winner, and an experienced assistant playing-coach.


Former Werribee and Western Jet onballer Darren Haby, back-to-back North Footscray best and fairest Nathan Richardson, and Kilmore's 2010 playing coach Guy Booker will join a Bloods outfit that was on the fringe of the top six last season but lacked the maturity to press for a finals spot. "Over the last couple of years recruiting has been difficult. We've done better this year," Melton coach Marc Raak said yesterday.


"We have been developing the playing group from within. Now we are topping up. It is fantastic with our depth because players will really have to fight for their places in the team. Everyone is keen to play Melton South under lights in round one. There will be a few disappointed players.


"We're not looking for band aid solutions. These are players who will help us in the long term. We think we can be right up there over next couple of years, including 2011. Our goal this year is finals."

Raak expects Haby to become an elite level midfielder in the BFL after he was starved for opportunity at VFL level.

Should have gone to the RDFL. In a much weaker comp they could have reduced player payments, still played finals, still have a local derby against Centrals, reduced travel, alligned with their juniors and pushed for a flag in the coming years. Now they will be lucky to win a couple of games.

The deal with riske could get ugly. Was told he has signed with a chfl club over christmas but now has signed with Darley. Stay tuned.

Will melton south be worse than the marsh & sebas this year?

havent you heard this is the new direction the club is taking
get rid of all the talent and rebuild a new culture
sounds like its going to plan ??

or are the players talking with there feet
cant wait until the local dearby this year we went 2 up last year and they were a ok side ?? :eek:

Can anyone tell me what type of player lauchie herring is and is he moving to mount gambier plus have heard a couple more might be going with him. Just wondering who they might be.
