At 73 you'd think he'd be ready to retire, but good on him. I guess he just really loves football, the job is a piece of p**s for him to do and he just makes some nice extra coin to hand down to the kids and grandkids.

Hartley and Livingstone were doing all the work while Balmey was there. This had been going on for years before he stepped aside officially. You reckon Balmey was in charge of list management? Was he running match committee? Was he doing kpis for all the coaches, hiring and firing?
He was a fantastic, calming influence and dealt with a lot of the media crap but that’s about it.

How ironic Crows a flying one of the flag favourites and Nicks looks to have improved. Not saying it's due to Balmey only , but success follows him. I never understood the decision to move him on when he said he wanted to stay regardless of the health issues even in a lesser role or part time. His experiences and expertise in the era we're in now could have been crucial.
