Richmond are desperate to exact "revenge" on CFC for their Treloar embarrassment.
And make no mistake, it was a huge embarrassment for them from the President down.
This is it. They now see us as even.
And good luck to them.
Poor Balmey is the pawn in a very political game. First is the revenge on CFC, the second is the current administrations success in signing Balme when the challengers could not.
Good luck to him. I'm sure they have spent overs to get his signature.
Nice guy, no hard feelings from me.
I don't think that the motivation to get one back comes into it. Balme won't get a kick or be a member of their midfield. Professional organisations are after the perceived best, anyone beating their chest and fist pumping over the signing of a rival's football department head is a rank amateur. That shit is left for us to do. Forget KB's trolling, he has a good chuckle when pies fans fall for his crap.
Another poster spoke of Balme giving inside info about recruits but as many know, there are very few secrets in the footy world because of managers and other who work on the periphery. Worried about nothing.

Good to see some nice sentiments towards a well respected person in footy. Gubby is a pretty handy operator so you haven't lost anything per say. We have gained what we needed at Richmond. Will be interesting to see how Balmey implements the review findings. Cheers.

Why is anyone meant to be interested about what some random on Twitter has to say about it?

and Why should anyone be interested in anything that is Posted by Anyone on here Then:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Because you can interact with the people who post here. If I wanted to see Twitter posts from random people I'd go on Twitter.

Are you serious, I would think if it was revenge we wanted it would have to involve a player coming our way or maybe just beating Collingwood on the field but then we already did that:rolleyes:

As for paying overs did we give Mrs Balme a job as well?

Lets be honest this would be considered a win win, you have who you wanted in Gubby and don't have to keep Balme on in some made up role, we have who we wanted in Balme, it's not as if either will be pulling on the boots.

Was about to like the post and remembered that we were 1 all onfield this year.

Go all out. Cloke for pick 6?

Hi visiting Tigers fans, happy for you to engage is respectful discussion in this thread, but dont be tempted to go on a liking spree for posts which suit your agenda.

It would have been good to keep Balme on in the director of coaching role. But it was the right call to bring Gubby in. The football department had maintained the status quo, and it wasn't working, it needed a shake up. Equally you can't blame Balme for taking on a more senior role, at another club, than what we were offering. It will be interesting to see if we are still looking to fill the director of coaching role. It might give an indication whether it was a serious role or a compromise at the time. Either way it seems a win win from my perspective.

If this were the Richmond board, the offending posters would lose their like buttons.

Bit soft over there.

Can't be unhappy for the bloke, he's going to the club he played for on a massive package and touted as the messiah, at 65 years old and well passed his best days at Collingwood you can only wish him well. In my opinion these recent developments have only served to raise the ability and potential performance of both clubs in 2017.

It's football, where egos reign. To be pushed aside, demoted even, would/may make some think they have been slighted. It's saying that either you can't do your job to the club's satisfaction or that there is a better option. It happens in workplaces all over the world.

Agree that it sometimes happens in workplaces around the world.

It'd be a stretch to assume that that's what's happened in this case. Maybe it did? Maybe it didn't? we'll never know.

All that we do know is that Richmond offered him a deal that was more attractive to him.

I don't get this post. I don't think Balme at any stage has publicly criticised the club or asked for sympathy, he's just gone about his business and been completely diplomatic in the media. How can this possibly be a pot/kettle scenario?

I'm not talking about Balme being critical- i am talking about the perception out there of "poor Neil Balme" who has been "shafted" by Collingwood, when the reality is we paid him a truck load of $$$$ to move from Geelong, we were prepared to continue paying him a truckload of $$$$ to take a different role and he has opted to take the top footy role at Richmond- which as I said I don't begrudge him but yoiu hear nothing about "poor Dan Richardson"- who has received the same treatment as Balme did- and this time Balme was one of the ones delivering it.

Not even a murmur though because it's only big bad Collingwood who can only do wrong.

If that's what gives you laugh. Enjoy.
Well gotta find something to laugh at given the teams plummeting performance over the past few years.
But as Buck's said "We've bottomed out now". I wonder if his sure about that?:D

Pfffffftttttttt .. My initial reply has "vanished".
Ahhhhhh.........no surprise.
Enjoy your exalted position my Tiger friend.
On the Collingwood board, unlike Tigers in the wild, you are protected species!

I don't get the moderation of liking... Isn't the bolded one of the reasons we have a like button? Does anyone really get upset about opposition supporters liking their posts even if they are doing it as enemies? I've been banned for doing it on the Brisbane board before and I thought the idea of being banned for liking was just as pathetic if not more so than my like lurking.

You've been banned.
Here the poster gets a slap on the wrist, "oh you naughty, naughty boy/girl" " do it 25 more times and we WILL ACT".

Haha! Laughable.

Bit of a shame, like Balmey and think he is a good operator / intermediary and seemed to be a good presence around the club. Good luck to him.
Hopefully Gubby can hit the ground running, we've hitched our wagon to his star now.

We get a lot of complaints about opposition posters going on liking sprees. This is the first time a poster has indicated they are OK with it. Helps grow the like count I guess.
