Teams Baltimore Ravens - Rise and Conquer

Understandably frustrated after grinding away all preseason only for it to be all for nothing at the 11th hour. Not much to read into it I dont think.

Captain Hindsight Zach Schomler...

Many teams didn't care, wanted their star players to get pre-season work....eg, Najee Harris....no coddling. No fear. Flores played everyone and said he wasn't afraid. Some teams, like Raiders, Gruden fearful and didn't start a bunch of his stars. Different approaches. But a lot of teams who threw their rookies in and started their starters without fear didn't get injuries. Injuries just happen randomly. Would've happened to Dobbins regardless probably, probably week 1 anyway.

Its so captain hindsight when you consider the injuries that happened in the early part of the season last year after having no preseason.

Yeah, good point. A lot of injuries happen first month, players re-acclimating. No preseason last year, the first month of regular season was like a pre-season, and players still acclimating, and thus injuries training etc.

ESPN's Field Yates reports the Ravens put in a waiver claim for RB Royce Freeman.
It's a curious move after Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh expressed the utmost confidence in Gus Edwards as the head of the team's backfield following J.K. Dobbins' season-ending knee injury. It's possible the team was just shoring up its running back depth chart before the regular season, and Freeman would have been no threat to Edwards. It could also mean the Ravens aren't comfortable with their backfield headed into 2021. The Raiders tried to claim Freeman off waivers too. Carolina landed him.

I guess I know the Ravens better than drd 😜

I doubt it. We've had an UDFA RB tearing teams up in Ty'Son Williams. He'll share carries with Gus the Bus and Justice Hill will keep being the RB3/ST guy.

Says the guy that claimed Williams in Empire ;)

Also, we still haven't traded a pick for a washed up David Johnson either :p

I assumed you knew what you were talking about.

Ravens RB Justice Hill suffered a torn Achilles' during Thursday's practice.
It explains why the Ravens tried out Le'Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman, and Elijah Holyfield on Monday. Hill, initially slated to be active as the team's No. 3 back by default, will go on season-ending injured reserve and begin the long road back to 2022. With only Gus Edwards and Ty'Son Williams available at this time, both should be expected to handle an immense amount of work while a dusty veteran eventually gets up to speed behind them. Williams will undoubtedly be listed as a priority add in John Daigle's Waiver Wire column on Tuesday.

LeVeon Bell to the practice squad…. You know things are desperate when you take an ageing RB who is averaging under 4yd/carry.

With Latavius Murray being released by NO, it a surprise that we aren’t bringing him in for a visit.

I'm not sure it is a surprise given that the reason that we was released was because he didn't want to take a pay cut, and we are currently right up against the cap so couldn't pay him much more than the minimum

You would think that the Ravens will wait to see IF he gets any offers and then try to find enough cap space to be able to negotiate.
He looks like a good fit and with our RB situation, you would think that we find a way to do it.

avens signed RB Trenton Cannon.
The Ravens have suffered a number of brutal injuries at the running back position, starting with J.K. Dobbins tearing his ACL in the summer followed by Justice Hill going down with a torn Achilles' tendon. Ty'Son Williams is currently slated to back up Gus Edwards but Cannon could take a small piece of that role away. Cannon is a small speedster but only has 48 carries in three years of play. He figures to be a placeholder for Le'Veon Bell, who is currently getting up to speed while on Baltimore's practice squad.

Ravens waived/injured RB Justice Hill.
Hill tore his Achilles' earlier this week and will miss the remainder of the season. Other teams can claim Hill off waivers but he's fully expected to pass through and revert to Baltimore's injured reserve list. With J.K. Dobbins returning in 2021 and Gus Edwards getting a chance to show his value with a larger role this year, Hill's roster spot next season is far from secure.
