gabba test is a joke. first test should always be in perth
Why? What does the WACA offer that the Gabba doesn't?
Early November is the best time for a Brisbane Test- before the weather gets too hot for being out all day long for five days. Yep, you're likely to get some showers, but as folks have pointed out, Brisbane has only lost two full days to rain in twenty plus years. I saw four wonderful Test matches there between 1995 and 1998.
Kev Mitchell does a damned fine job on producing pitches- sure there are going to eb greentops- nature of the beast in northern Australia. He does give something to both batsman and bowler- making for exciting matches to watch- even those that end in three days.
I really despise the reconstruction of the Gabba- it really takes away the atmosphere that the ground had prior to the mid 90s. Sure, it was done for footy, but cricket could really do with about 10 000 less seats than they have now. Of course, I'd love to see the Hill brought back as well- that was where the real atmosphere was- but that aint happening.
As for the ODI- early January might be best for Brissie- and matches during the day, since the rain does tend to eb an afternoon event. Still won't take away possible washouts- you will get rain in brisbane in January- probably more so than in other capital cities. Maybe schedule two days for a Gabba ODI- but that wouldn't sit well with CA or the networks.
