With all the news of the west indies arrival into australia for the test match and 1 day series, nobody has mentioned anything about Bangladesh playing their debut test match against India. I followed through CricInfo and the local newspaper for each days progress and the signs for them were quite good early on.

But the point of this discussion is does everyone think 10 test playing sides is enough or should the ICC expand it to 12 and allow Kenya, UAE or Holland join? I hope Australia adds a test match with Bangladesh the next time they are in the sub continent.

I don't have a problem with the ICC admitting 100 countries provided they are organised well and can be at least semi competitive with the big 7/8 countries. Otherwise countries like Australia and Sth Africa won't bother to play them because the games would be fizzers and there would be little money in it.

Mind you the tv rights in Bangladesh may be lucrative.

16 years on and they've stacked up 1 win against a full strength opponent other than Zimbabwe.

They're running hot*

*genuinely think theyre becoming a decent side, just wondering when this post was made if anyone had any idea that it would be 2016 before they beat a top 8 team at full strength (they beat the west indies twice when they had something like 90 players ruled out from National selection)

Pretty much every test side bar Australia, England and Pakistan took a long time to be competitive
That's true to some extent, but I think the best comparison to Bangladesh would be Sri Lanka. They were admitted in 1981, were rubbish for most of the 80's (although still probably better than Bangas have been) and then came into their own in the early to mid 90s i.e. 10-15 years post admission. Bangladesh is up to 16 years and whilst there are signs they're still a fair way behind what Sri Lanka was.

Takes time but I think we're starting to see them genuinely come through. They'll be winning / breaking even in most series on their home turf from now on I would expect.

They're undoubtedly on the way up. Plenty of talent, and a bit concerning for other teams that Mustafizur was injured for the England series.
