1st test has just started. South Africa currently 0/33 with debutant opener Aiden Markram currently 12no. Phehlukwayo is also debuting with new coach Ottis Gibson in charge.

Changes for Bangladesh with Shakib Al Hasan on leave. Mahmudullah returns and Liton Das has the gloves.

Early indications seem to be that Mehedi Hasan is going to bowl ALOT of overs.

That is a cruel way to miss out.

He’s got a good record - only 22, plenty of FC hundreds, averaging 44. He’s one to keep an eye on.

It’s only the Bangers but Elgar is getting better and better as he plays more test cricket.

Unfortunate for Markram, but based on that innings and the regard for his ability I would expect many more opportunities to cross triple figures.

Ugly day for the Bangladeshi bowlers, will be interested to see if they can adjust quickly as there is enough quality there to succeed.

Markram looks a classy type and he's only 22, so he could have a bright future. IIRC he was their under 19 captain when they won the World Cup.

He should have had two tons in his first two matches.

Definitely has a bright future. Even at such a young age for a test cricketer his debut has been a long time coming.

Just when the Bangladeshi's look like they've turned the corner. I know it's not unusual in this day and age for cricket sides to fold like a house of cards when on tour, but they've just been creamed even with some good experience in the side.

Let’s be fair, if there’s one place more than any other that they’re just not cut out for, it is SA.

Not so sure. Markram is a big plus, but otherwise there's still the same question marks over the team there was before hand.

Certainly, but while they’ve been trying to fill the de villiers void and find another opener (surprised they dispensed with cook as quickly as they did) and also deal with no Steyn, they’ve had a number of fairly tough series. They’ll come out of it well imo now that they’ve discovered Maharaj, Markram, Olivier etc

Had they elevated de Kock in the order, the SA score might have further bloated. Bangers have been noncompetitive. Disappointing after their seires against us, but foreign soil is a challenge for them.

Rabada has a good future. Olivier is also bowling better but think they would welcome back Morkel, Steyn and Philander over the summer. Abbott is gone though.
