Now, for the next best thing.
Collingwood and Richmond get to the grand final. They have 90 thousand in the G. The national anthem plays. Then Gill runs out to the middle, looking harried. He takes the mike off the singer, and the music stops. A murmuring begins to rise.
"Hi all. Apparently, seeing as we're trying things to improve the look of the game, we're trialing something new this year. The best two teams will play off in the Grand final series, but for the first time we have a wildcard team, one the competition have never seen coming."
Out comes Bolton, in Carlton gear, and the full Carlton team behind him. Curiously, the bandages and strapping are missing, as though the injuries have just disappeared.
"This year, Carlton, Collingwood and Richmond will play off to decide the 2018 Premiership team!"
A full third of the crowd throw off their Collingwood/Richmond gear, to reveal the proud Navy Blue, and they begin to roar.
