Will Schofield was too. One of the leagues most under rated players - much like the bloke he replaced.

He’s looked a couple of times in his career - bounced back well to play a key role in 2015 and took his opportunity with both hands when the time arrived in 2018.

Thought he was their best in the first quarter when they were under fire. Could have been even further behind and possibly game over without his efforts in that first term. Had a very good game.

Funny how Vic media went on and on about Richmonds big 3 defenders, who went on to get towelled up by Cox, DeGoey and Co.
Yet hardly a word about any WC defender except McGovern......
I know which defensive lineup I'd rather have playing for a flag

Hes not the best, but hes very good at playing on the monster forwards like Cox. Cox might look skinny, but at 212cm and 110kg, Barrass seems to do really well on those guys. I'd still say McGovern is the much better player, but both were great today.

Tbh they work so well together. If it was old school and 1 on 1 defense Barrass is much better than McGovern. McGovern only thrives because Barrass can pretty much planket his opponent and McGovern jumps across for an uncontested mark.

Maybe as a pure defender, but there's so much more to defending these days. Zone players influence games more, and McGoverns kicking from defence is superb.

Astbury shouldn't be rebounding at all lol, shaky kick it's not his go, hes a very good stopper and intercept mark though.
