I think hall's got a bit of the mundine factor in him in that people will he interested in watching his career for 2 reasons 1. Because tueyre fans and want to see him succeed / see how he goes in the ring and 2. To see him get knocked out and "get what's been coming to him". Some will he interested to see either happen. It's a good platform for him to attract an audience.

Where mundine failed was his fight wasn't nearly as big as his mouth. That's where hall differs, if he can put some decent performances together and shows that he has the talent / determination (which I personally don't doubt for a second), then some of the 50/50 people and even some haters will jump on the bandwagon which will see him gain a decent following.

Sure he's done some stupid stuff on the footy field. But he was obviously frustrated during that period. As a huge forward, his opponents have tried to scrag him knowing they were protected by the rules of the game, hall has challenged various opponents (imo saying if you're gonna take it there lets take it all the way). Right or wrong, he's backed himself on the footy field cause he knew he could back it up. People call him a thug, but footys a physical game, his opponents used every trick up their sleeve to heat him and hall did the same.

There's every chance that he'll be able to wreak as much talent in the ring as he did on the footy field. At that point, the people that consider him a thug on the field will have to reassess their opinion of him and say he was just a fighter who could play footy. If he does get his ass handed to him in the ring then he'll be the guy who picked on smaller opponents and couldn't match it with the big boys. But hey, at least he's giving it a go and is putting himself to the ultimate test. That's a pretty big risk to take, and I for one hope he succeeds. Australia needs a good world class heavyweight. Jot sure if he'll ever live up to that tag but I'd welcome it. Australia needs a high profile boxer, and it'll make.mundines accomplishments mundane. Plus it'll be another win to afl over league, and any time someone refers to afl as gay.fl we can point out that we have the best boxing convert (huge plus for Sydney Aussie rules fans). Let's see it I say.

I'd rather this option than see him matched against underclass fighters and gaining some ridiculous boxing credibility and cult following.

The man is a thug, and i hope it eats away at him that he is well remembered for being so.

The option that he entered the ring and got the sense belted out of him may have been my preferred choice. But then again, he would've been labelled 'Brave' for getting in there.

Actually, I like the back down, coward option the best.
He works part time at the Bulldogs, I will check and find out when he is next there.I will post this info here at Bigfooty.
Then can you please head down there and tell Barry that he is a coward in person.

Strange that you would have another clubs Premiership Captain as an ambassador for yours. Why Did Sydney not offer him a similar role?

Believe me, Baz knocking me out would do nothing to enhance his reputation. Or change the publics view that he was a flat track bully and a thug on the football field. He tried to pull the wool over the publics eyes by having a few tame years at the Doggies and going out on top, for his own, selfish post career reasons.

But the telling thing is, the only player who had the nuggets to stir him, he retaliated against, in the ape like manner he only knows how.

Is it possible for people to change from their early-twenties to their mid-thirties? And if they do, can they be forgiven for their misdeeds in the past?
Exactly, geez who hasnt thrown a punch before? Doesnt mean you have to be a professional boxer/ fighter or your a coward. No doubt he can handle himself better than most and prone to an outburst, he certainly wasnt the first and wont be the last. He definitely has more balls than the keyboard warriors.

Good luck to him whatever he does, had a great career and has nothing to prove to anyone in my books.

Actually i couldnt care less if he hasnt changed. If some dweeb or keybopard warrior was silly enough to gob off thinking their safe cos they're pissweak, well i hope he would knock em into next week. Open your trap and offend, be prepared to back it. Thats how the world works.

That thug ended a young North Melbourne recruit's playing career with his fists back in his StKilda days. King hit specialist. Coward.
Sounds very similar to an act committed by a former north melbourne player who is now the hawthorn coach.

So Barry would be less of a coward if he belted an unfit and smaller person who is nowhere near a professional sportsman?

Exactly, not to mention an incident with a certain North player, a female and a broken glass. Is that an act of great bravery? Nonetheless you can guarantee whenever Barry's name is mentioned there are a few North fans guaranteed to come out as the moral crusaders they are to tell us Hall is a devil, Hall is a coward, Hall won't be remembered for anything other than violence. They should have a look in their own backyard, because compared to their greatest ever player Barry is a saint

Its good to see some North fans here have the sense to realise that maybe Hall isn't the devil, pity about the other posters of such great integrity as to be shocked and disgusted by anything involving mean old Barry

Also not to mention Norths current coach who was part of the Cray bros, who dished out plenty in their day. I do recall a certain incident where they both ran up bravely and bumped (put mildly) an injured player. Their are always incidents on the football field. This is not however an indication of who they really are and what they do in their private lives. Bravery is about saving peoples lives, putting yourself at risk for the sake of anothers life. Not boxing not football no sport at all. Get a grip. We have all had players who are considered thugs with the opposition supporters. When they change over and play for somebody else all of a sudden they are seen in a new light.
