As reported on Channel Gossage...Barry Mitchell will be leaving the club next year...his son has signed up with GWS so he may be going over there..

Gossage also reports that Peter Bell is a strong candidate in securing a senior coaching role at the club.
 
I'd say he left. His son is going to be over in Sydney, so he wants to be with his son to help him. His son has been all over the place really following his dad so he's probably used to him being there.

I thought His son was a F/S pick for Sydney not GWS. I'm sure I remember reading someones post that said this was on the cards.

Now we really need more assistants, although this is bleedingly obvious at this point.
 
This could be the most exciting time of the year for the supporters, till the start of pre-season.After the last month of watching our season fall apart,
the fog is clearing.

Bell had a reputation as a termite during Connolly era. I'm a bit unsure really. On one hand he's incredibly smart guy and I think his brain would be valuable asset in the footy dept. On the other, he may destabilise our club further because of his own ambition. I don't know really. Part of me wants him at the club, the other doesn't want him anywhere near it.

Yes considering Connolly turned out to be a complete humpy. Belly probably saw him for the idiot that him and Schwab were.
I don't remember Belly and Harves not getting on. I think he would be an asset at the club.

Belly wouldn't be able to find the time,to busy breeding race horses & running nite clubs.

He's got people who do that for him.
I think he wants it. He stated several times on 6PR this season that he loves and cares about Freo and he's available to help the club out anytime.

As far as the intellectual side of the game goes, I don't think we'd find any better.

The only criticism would be lack of experience, and he'd be no worse off than a guy like Hird.

Peter Bell? Yeh I like the idea of enticing former champions back to club now we've been around for a decade and a half... What's Benny Allan up to these days? I wonder if we could ever entice Scott Watters back home.
 
I don't want Bell, if he wants to coach go do an apprenticeship somewhere else. We need senior, experienced coaching assistance for next year and that means someone like Neil Craig etc.

I know Belly is a pretty switched on individual but no thanks.
 
We should be straight onto the phone to luke power and see if ne is keen to look at an assistants role.

Depends what they put Bell in charge of but I like it. At least we know we arent getting some meathead whos going to instruct them to bomb it to Sandi or Pav when we are within 100m of goals. He is clearly an intelligent and motivated person. We need all of them we can get. And I think he would really love to be involved in some success in some capacity at the club. Also when Ive heard him speak its sounded like he goes down the club and does some stuff in an unofficial role.

As to the whiteanting.. thats simply rumour and innuendo, nothing in it, play on
 
I wouldn't mind Tarkyn Lockyer or Scott Watters. Awesome. And if Bell wants it, and I mean really wants it, and Harvey wants him, no probs.

Mitchell leaving is old news isn't it? I thought he announced it when Sydney agreed to take his son F/S ages ago.
